Rae Carruth represents all NFL players. Nice cherry picking, sfb. |
| A “lax bro” is a dude who is neither athletic enough to play a sport like football or basketball, or smart enough to get into an Ivy or top liberal arts without a hook, but gloms onto lax as a way to get both recruited to play a college sport and into top colleges. It’s basically an affirmative action vehicle for not super smart but very rich kids. |
I think you will find a lot of cross-over among lacrosse and bball guards and football skill players. There is a different demographic, however, as lacrosse has not penetrated many of the hotbed bball or football markets. If you look at the lacrosse rosters of most of the excellent colleges, you find few "lax bros". You will find a lot of kids who are athletic, good kids, focused on school work and building skills for success after college. Many are not so rich, either. |

You know who was one of the best college lacrosse players of all time?
Jim Brown. He also played a little running back. |
what a narrow minded post. Go see a therapist if a sport upsets you this much. |
| A lax bro is a dude who recognizes the keys to winning the game of life. A bit of swagger, a lot of bon homie, and an understanding that it's who you know that matters most. |
I kind of like this description but I'd throw working hard and knowing how to be a team player in there. |
oh puke I hope this is sarcastic |
this made me both laugh and wince at the same time |
I get boys trying to be cool, playing basketball, talking slang and letting their pants hang on their knees. But is the hoops thug culture a real thing, or just basically thuggish culture repackaged? |

Lax Bro, Bernie Bro, etc...
Many sports have their own culture and peculiarities, equestrian sports and golf for example, and while the stereotypes come from somewhere, they do not always apply. It is often satisfying emotionally when some narrative fits our expectation, but that does not mean the narrative is accurate. Duke Lacrosse Scandal - Prosecutorial misconduct and disbarment for Nifong, the district attorney. If you are passingly familiar with Rob Bordley or Ian Healy, then you know that any Lax Bro culture that might exist at Landon is not embraced. Most kids on the team play two or three sports. Does that mean there are Football, Soccer, Basketball, Hockey, and Wrestling bros? Every high school student at Landon takes a minimum of two years of art, does that mean they are Art Bros? They also take three years of world languages, does that mean they are World Language Bros? 90% of the students take Calculus -does that mean they are Calculus Bros? Have a nice non-judgmental day. |
| Ugh, this was such a thing when I grew up (90s Long Island). It's not a football area - the lax guys were the cool jocks. |
| Lax Bro also became a "Thing," (I Think) when Warrior started to market Lacrosse as a "Lifestyle" instead of a sport - and this was mostly in CA-where the Lacrosse kids were not nearly as cool as the kids who excelled at football, water polo, and baseball. Warrior marketed Lacrosse as an alternative sport - like skating and surfing. Hence - The Bro. |
| They matriculate to finance bros at BC. |
| Jock meets rich kid with all the entitlement and lack of self awareness that goes with both |
