Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

Anonymous
This selection cheapens the prize in my view. As opposed to winning it for great contributions (like those awardees in literature, chemistry, etc) the Committee used the award to further a political agenda. They're using it to manipulate the US President's diplomatic agenda. That is not the purpose described in Nobel's will (which refers to actual deeds accomplished), but I guess that doesn't matter to the Committee.

I think they gave it to him to make up for the NoGame Award he got last week.

Wait until some terrorist walks all over us and Obama apologizes for the US actions. Then and only then will he have earned the award.

fortunately or unfortunately, we are the sole superpower right now. #1 by a huge margin both economically and military. So the world rightly resents that power. If you are one to be embarrassed by such power, constantly apologize for it, think the US is responsible for most of the bad in the world, then of course the rest of the world will like you.

Oh, I don't think we are an economic superpower. China holds most of the debt and many of the deeds.

That would be the best day of your life, wouldn't it? You Obama-haters are deranged. Fantasizing about terrorist attacks in this manner.

BTW, are you familiar with Baitullah Mehsud? That's one terrorist who won't be walking all over us thanks to a CIA drone. How about Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan? He was on the FBI's Most Wanted List. He's off the list because, well, they don't list body parts and thanks to US helicopters that's all that's left of him. He also won't be walking all over us. Have you noticed any US ships having problems with pirates lately? Seems that Obama sent a message that US ships should be walked all over.

Keep fantasizing. The bad guys only need to get lucky once. But so far, Obama is doing a pretty good job eliminating actual terrorists as opposed to prancing about in a flight suit and codpiece.

Keep bowing down to him. How is Afganistan going for you? Read the stories lately about troops getting killed in bases Obama is closing up. Way to show your hand, Obama. Well played.

Wow, you just make stuff up, so that you can have something to say. You should write a novel.

The exact same thing happened -- even within a few miles of the same location -- when Bush was in charge. Afghanistan is a difficult place to fight as a number of foreign armies have learned. I didn't support the war in the first place. But, since we are there, I support hunting down and killing bin Laden and then getting the hell out. I think Obama is probably coming to a similar conclusion.

Great line as usual. Blame everything on Bush. It must be nice to have a scapegoat.

Move on people.

Well he didn't exactly treat Afghanistan like the problem it was. Afghanistan was the Soviet Union's Vietnam. Everyone knew how hard a place it is to fight. So why didn't he put in the troops to get the job done? Now the Taliban has had so much time to dig in and learn to deal with us, it's going to take forever. In other words, yes, Bush really screwed the pooch on this one.

If I were him, I'd be thoroughly embarrassed. To be put in the same category as mother Teresa, Einstein, and Nelson Mandela...I think not. But then again Arafat, Carter, and Gore are in the mix as well.

Einstein won a Nobel Peace Prize?

Arafat received the award along with Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin. Do you also think those two were undeserving? Because the prize could hardly have been given to them without including Arafat.

Obama is probably much more comfortable being in the same category as Mandela than he is being with Apartheid leader F.W. de Klerk who received the award along with Mandela.

But de Klerk actually did something. He facilitated South Africa moving towards full democratic rule. And whatever you think about Peres, Rabin, and Arafat -- they all actually accomplished something that was supposed to move the region towards peaceful coexistence. Obama still has a lot to do!

How can you be against enhanced interrogation and for helicopters blowing people to bits from the sky? Does that allow you to sleep safely at night and hold on to your principles? And yes we should withdraw from Afghanistan - this president is very nice but te troops deserve better direction than nice
