"I don't know!"

I wish I had seen this or had the forethought to say something similar when I was in a cab with my four year old and the cab driver said to me that I'll need to start working on that second child. I wish I had thought to say, "well the past three years we've been working on it but thanks for your concern" but I was so caught off guard.

It's honestly just a question, not a judgement. I don't really care if you are one and done. If we can talk about it, it's just one more thing to talk about.

I know you say it's just a question and just making convo but for those who have been TTC or are infertile, which we've been doing for three years and have been going through infertility treatments, it just feels like another intrusive question. I'd rather you just ask me about my son and what he likes to do or if I have plans for the weekend. I don't want to think of how to respond politely. It touches a nerve for some so I hope you'll rethink asking this question.

Never. They won't stop asking until they think you are too old.
