My kids say I'm too old for a new Jeep Wrangler

These are the most uncomfortable cars I've ever ridden in. Are you using it to off road? If not, get another car. It's not meant for pavement.

The new ones with leather are amazingly comfy but still noisy. Take it for a test drive.

It’s a good teaching opportunity for your kids to learn that at some point, be true to yourself and don’t worry what others think. Also they could use a lesson in ageism.

+1 but I would never buy one for myself. I owned one through my 20's and it was seriously part of my image back then -- over 20 years ago! I can't imagine trying to assume that type of image again as a forty-something mom, although I'm still a fun-loving and fit person. I'm just not THAT girl anymore. If we were to buy one it would be for my teenagers. It's kinda like wearing jeans with big holes or mini-skirts -- just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Tell the kids they can walk or take the bus and they will never be driving it.

How old are your kids?

The windows don't seem to shut tight so there's always a little air coming in and the road noise is louder than other cars I've driven. Otherwise I like it. It has great features and is pleasant to drive.

That's panel gap and inferior rubber sealing, signs of cheap, corner-cutting production and engineering.

What part of "Jeep" do you not understand?

Stick with your 5-series and leave Jeeps to people who know what they're doing.

Renegade != Wrangler. Renegade is a small SUV built for parking lots and city driving. But build quality is a little lacking.

1. It is an objectively terrible car

2. Assuming you're a 40-something mom from the burbs it's going to look like you're trying way too hard

You and OP's kids are both know-nothings

As a likely 45yo mom from the burbs who drives a Wrangler I'm not surprised you're defensive. They are literally adapted from military vehicles. If you knew anything about cars you'd know they have plasticky interiors, awful road noise for a modern car, terrible driving dynamics, and FCA reliability. 1% of owners actually take them on the trail, the remaining 99% just want the image.

OP should buy almost anything else- Highlander, RX350, X5, Range Rover Sport. All would be a better choice than the Wrangler.

I'm shocked that you didn't mention Honda and Toyota. Go away with your boring cars.

Those are so uncomfortable. Tin can on wheels.

OP: How about a Prius? Or a Mazda 5? Both are practical, economical and roomy. They make a statement that you care about the environment, and will leave you plenty of $$ to put in your kids’ 529 plan accounts.

If you want to go a little more upscale, I would recommend a Tesla. They have an autopilot feature that drives the car for you! The future is here now!

Get it. Have fun. Who cares what others think.

Uncomfortable and noisy. There are tons of better options.

You’re either Jeep people or you aren’t. DH cried real tears when we sold his 1999 Wrangler last year. I was pretty close to it myself. We still have our 2011 four door family one, and we’ll get another 2-door eventually, when the kids are out of car seats. It’s actually kind of annoying that they’re suddenly for rich bros and sorority girls.
