Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
| We regularly go to Rustico and they've been very accomodating with our DD who's 8 months. |
| I have found pretty much every mid-priced restaurant in DC that I went to pre-baby is perfectly baby & toddler friendly as long as you go on the early side -- they all had high chairs and were very accomodating. Even places you wouldn't ordinarily think of as child friendly. Just go at 5:30 or 6:00 and they are happy to have you. |
Perfect! Love it! |

We're "foodies" and have brought our dds with us just about everywhere. I draw the line at CityZen or Central, though!
Oyamel is great for kids. They love the decor and, of course, the guac made tableside. Little plates are good for kids since there's rarely a lull in the food action. For this reason, we also love Jaleo and Zaytinya. For pizza, Matchbox is fun for everyone. We've even done Rasika for an early dinner with family. Also: Lebanese Taverna Indique Sorriso Sette Marvin |
Give it another 10-12 mos - you can get away with a lot more with a 2 month old that sleeps through dinner than with an older baby/toddler that wants to get into everything and definitely is not going to sleep through the meals. |
I just took my 6 year old to Brasserie Beck. It was early in the evening, he was perfectly behaved and the staff were all very courteous to us. (I wouldn't take him to Cityzen though, fwiw) |

I REALLY hope you scrutinize your choices when I'm paying a sitter top dollar for one night out. We have NO family in the area and rarely get out. So help me if I hear a screaming kid. There is NOTHING cute about it. |
| We are pretty much the same in not being able to get out, but frankly these days when I hear a kid screaming I am more likely to think "I'm glad I'm not that family" than to glare at them. Of course it does require some judgment, and I would never take a small child to a 2 hour meal. |
