good restaurants that you can take kids to

We often see more babies/kids than adults at Austin Grill in Alexandria. The waitstaff is awesome with kids.

really? i have to say i'd be pretty pissy if i was around an unruly kid at cityzen or most of the others listed. and the odds are good that at some point in a 2+hour meal a kid would get unruly. in other words, might be fine for you to take your kid, but not necessarily fair to the waitstaff or other customers if you do.

I love Ray's, but don't think I'd take my toddler daughter there - the tables are really close together and I'd be worried about her trying to snag food off other diners' plates.

I assume this list is a joke. I've been to Brasserie Beck many times and never seen a young kid there. Occasionally there will be HS age kids there. And who could afford to take a kid to CityZen?

I'm the one that posted the original list. I have a 2 month old that I regularly bring to these places in a stroller/car seat. Never once have I had a problem. I always make reservations in advance and tell them that I will be bringing a stroller. Each one of the places has gone out of their way to accommodate us, and it's always been fine. Our child always sleeps through the meals, so I don't see a problem.

I don't think it is rude to take a sleeping baby, in a car seat, into a nice place, but I think it is really rude to bring a stroller into a restaurant - it just gets in everyone's way. Leave the stroller in the car and carry the car seat in and put it on the ground or in the booth next to you. It is not that hard to find a place to set it that is safe and out of the way, like next to a wall.

Sorry, but strollers in restaurants are one of my pet peeves.

While I agree that Austin Grill is very kid-friendly, I find the food to be average. It is not on my destination list of places to go for good Tex-Mex-is the one in Arlington better than the one in Bethesda food-wise?
