Good books to read to have interesting conversation with a liberal single mom

OP seems to like her and also books and just wants suggestions. This board is tough sometimes. All my liberal bookish friends are reading Educated, which is a memoir. Try that one. Good luck.

People woo single mothers?

I think the real term is divorced moms. People sure do.

Thanks for the suggestions. This board really surprised me sometimes even though I shouldn't be.

And yes she's a divorced mom. I don't think she lacks suitors .

Be authentic. I read mysteries and that’s what I tell dates that I read. That works ... not well really. Lie your ass off. You read The Economist before breakfast. Tell her that, them mumble about your Icelandic baby seal rescuing hobby.

I'm a divorced liberal mom, and I suggest getting a subscription to the New Yorker and listening to at least one hour of NPR each day (there's also a New Yorker Radio Hour that discusses recent stories).

Bitter bitch-boy who married one stupid, slobby woman, amirite?

Don’t even try it. We know it’s true.

If so, don’t pretend to have tastes or habits that you really abhor.

Post divorce, I wasted months dating a guy who ultimately told me he didn’t believe in God (I’m religious), hated sci-fi (I’m a huge nerd), and couldn’t see how I reconciled the two. Why spend months attending Mass with me, then binge-watching BSG? And, don’t say just for sex. There’s plenty of sex available with people who don’t love things that you hate!

Yes but she's not ready to be in a relationship yet so we're in friends zone right now but I like her company and want to our conversation to stay ineresting.

Don't pretend to be something you're not if you'd like to make it out of the friend zone. She will respect you more if you can respectfully disagree and intelligently argue your point of view.

OP. Don't bother trying to guess. Tell her you just finished reading [whatever you just finished reading] and were looking for something new to read. Does she have any favorites or suggestions?

I love reading what others suggest. It gives me insight into what they like, and often opens me up to something I wouldn't have chosen off the shelf left to my own devices.

Read books and wisdom on Obama, Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, gun control and feminism. You should be set.

That’s a really high price to pay, but by the end of that drivel your testosterone levels will be so low that you’ll be perfect for her.

Very unlikely she reads all that many books. NPR and a passing familiarity with a couple podcasts and you’ll be fine.

No, idiot; this wasn’t even posted during morning hours, unless of course you're on the troll farm shift from some shithole near Skopje. I’m not one myself, but it sounds like OP’s crush, the liberal single mom, is attractive...and she can probably tell time. Scurry away
