Kansas and Alaska has a high concentration of men.

Women in Alaska have a saying: "In Alaska the odds are good, and the goods are odd."

lol...

The problem is that women have upped their game but men haven't. I got a mail order DH from Europe. Kidding, but he is an immigrant from Europe, and I'm Asian American.

“Women have upped their game but men haven’t”: meaning what? Are we supposed to magically become taller and richer?

Just more educated. 60% of university graduates are female. I don't entirely blame men -- there have been huge efforts to focus on girls from a young age, to encourage them to study in STEM fields, not fall behind, etc. Not much on the other side, focusing on boys falling behind.

Just a college degree or a silicon Valley start-up CEO.

I’ve got a degree. Women my age are relatively uninterested. You all do want that startup CEO, or any CEO, or anyone else that resembles an affluent character on tv. That’s not upping your game. That’s holding out for a prince. Either show everyone how it’s done or grow up.

Maybe we at DCUM can introduce you to someone. And you two can go in Datelab on Washpo!

How is that? There are LOTS of AA men. I thought I saw statistics that they outnumber the women.

No, college-educated AA men do not outnumber college-educated AA women. And yes, the friends that I know will date men without college degrees and date interracially.

Have you ever taken a look at the teen birth rates for black teens? Check out figure 3 in the following file . . . https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/products/databriefs/db259.htm. Shocking, eh? After coming out of college in the 90s, there were so many AA men that were already parents. Combine that with some of the other realities and it makes finding a mate a little more difficult.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but my group of successful, fit, and attractive AA women are great catches.

Nah we don't. I laugh when a co-worker tried to "hook me up" with a friend. Well, he was short, about 100 pounds overweight, not attractive, AND A WHORE. Yes, he had a good job but he was a known womanizer. She was not aware that I new someone in the same circle. I politely declined but eventually had to tell her why I was rejecting his advances.

And, please do not send your almost 50 year-old son who lives with his mother down to meet me. Yes, he is single and has a degree but darn . . . he has never launched.

He was short? The horror!

Two of the greatest men I’ve ever known were 5-9. I’ve been married; my recollection is that neither relative height nor masters degrees mattered.

"GOLDEN RULE- Remember the definition of a “good woman”: a woman who is alive, coherent and able to be introduced to you. Stop being so picky. Your six-figure job doesn’t make you any better than the sister who works at Mickey D’s. She’s got that ambition baby, look in her eyes. Instead of focusing on what a woman does now, think about her potential. You may be the perfect push she needs to get back into school or to work on accelerating her growth at work, so make sure you are willing to date any good woman who comes your way."

Yes, college educated with a decent job. Statistically, there are more women than men in this category.

I don't think the issue is that our society focuses on girls and education more. This is still largely a man's world, yet more women go to college than men because the jobs that women can get that pay well require college degrees, whereas for a man, they can still get decent paying jobs without a college degree.

Around places like DC though, college educated women tend to be more ambitious, though, so yes, they want a partner who is similarly ambitious. That seems harder to find.

Most women I know aren't married to CEO, venture capitalist types. They are married to decent men, with good paying jobs - lawyers, IT professionals, scientists, engineers.

But, I will say that some women do have unrealistic expectations in terms of money and looks. But then again, some men have unrealistic expectations regarding a woman maintaining a high libido and not gaining weight after having kids.

As a mid 40s man in the process of separating from his wife, I find this thread very encouraging. Apparently there will be a lot of mid 30s and older women out there who are attractive, intelligent, and available. My only problem is that I will be broke for quite a while…

If he's short, fat and ugly, how is he getting his whoring on?

Tinder, turning the lights off, and not having to look at him when he is from behind.

That's exactly what I was wondering . . . he had even lost 40 pounds. I am dead serious about this hookup.
