B/c I asked specifically for hotels in OC and even after clarifying that we are set on OC hotels, and repeating my reasons, some people insist on trashing OC or contesting the validity of our reasons for going to OC. It doesn't matter what the cost of tea in China is or how long it takes to get there if I am not going to China.

we are aware of the cost. We have stayed in condos for 10+ years. We don't want a week anymore. We don't want to drag our sheets/towels for a miniweek.

Thanks for your concern. We are looking for a shorter 2-3 day beach stay at a hotel that is ocean front, in good condition and has 2 queen beds, near restaurants. We don't want to drive 5 hrs for a short beach trip. So, that means OC rather than VA Beach.

You can rent sheets and towels. Much easier.

It’s not about being a peasant. OP said she was considering a hotel in ocean city not dead set on it. I made the point earlier that before spending $600 a night on mediocre hotel I would explore my options. If you got off the highway and the first food place you came to was selling a basic burger for $20 wouldn’t it be nice if a local informed you about the great place 2 miles down the road that had an unbelievable burger for $12.

You’re on a forum board full of people competing to have the highest HHI and kids at the best colleges and vacations to the most exclusive resorts.
