Once the first grader gets in the third grader can move to the top of the list if you applied at the same schools.

I still wouldn’t get too excited even with these numbers. Upper grades at these schools often don’t go to WL at all.

Have you seen the MD board recently? Lots of angst and hand-wringing there about the 2.0 curriculum in MoCo. Check out this thread, for example:

The current 1st at Janney is on the smaller size (relatively) so you might have a shot on that one.

NP, what do you mean "current 1st"? Wouldn't that mean that next year they will go into 2nd and there might be spots in 2nd for next year?

Our kids are currently in K and 2nd; so I don’t believe we are competing for the same grades.

Ah you just referenced your 1st grader so I figured you meant current. Not sure we're taking any spots we get (if any) anyway. Good luck!

I think it's insane. How do you know your kids aren't going to fall behind or pick up bad behaviors at the lesser DC schools? What is the trade off?

A little hysterical aren't we? My DC is going into 2nd at a Title I school. Oh the horror! Doing quite well actually, and we're very pleased.

Good, we will check back in 10 years and see how she is doing with her Title I education.

Historical data suggests Janney may be the one most likely to move.
