+1 It's women like you that give other women a bad rep in the workplace, OP! You're making your childcare issues everyone else's problem now.

I actually don't have childcare issues, I do have issues with other female (or male) employees who can't get their s*it together regarding childcare, and maintain next to no leave because of it, and then they want to take LWOP. Sorry, not happening.

Your childcare may be a-ok but you clearly have reading comprehension issues. The person you're arguing with above was agreeing with you.

Good lord. The bitterness here is astounding. People who take LWOP are NOT getting paid for work that they are not doing. Often times any benefits they acrue will also be affected by the amount of LWOP. When did you lose any sense of decorum and respect for people in your village, and for yourself?

I think LWOP like OP mentions is largely used as a crutch, not as a permanent solution to childcare. It's when life kicks you in the teeth and daycare falls through or someone gets fired or elderly parents get sick. Of the people I know who've used LWOP like this, they all had life emergencies and fully intended to continue with their full time schedule once they were able. It saved the hassle of firing and rehiring or firing and training a new person - especially in gov when the process can take several months.
