Unpack family at hotel — do you fill the drawers?

+1. Of all the nasty things you will encounter in a hotel, the dresser is the least of your concern. This comes from a 100+ nights a year in a hotel business traveler.

The worst thing you can do is to put suitcase on the bed. I used to do that--until I read it is a good way to get bedbugs in your luggage. Then, you bring them into your house. And, yes, even luxury hotels can have bedbugs.

More than 1 night? Yes I do. I pack the clothes in outfits and put each family members clothes in the drawer that way. Well notnmy husband’s clothes because he can dress himself, but the kids. Then my husband can dress the kids while I get ready in the morning.

I never unpack but my DH always does. If we share a bag, he ends up unpacking my stuff too. I will admit, it does make it easier to find things and the room looks less messy.

We have a bed bug protocol. Bags stay in bathroom.

The only time i've ever unpacked is on a cruise because the space is so tight. Otherwise I live out of the suitcase, no problem.

If you are so grossed out by a hotel you should not be staying in a hotel. Have fun with your staycations!

Yeah I really don't get paying for a nice hotel and then being afraid to actually use the room as a room should be used.

I immediately unpack. Clothes smell stale if they stay jammed in the suitcase. Stuff goes on hangers and in the drawers. The dresser is not what’s gross about a hotel room. The bed/pillows/carpet/bathroom/doorknobs/upholstered furniture are what’s gross.

But, this is my big trick: eBags ... this way you just take them out of your luggage, and put the whole thing in the drawer. Your clothes never touch the drawer. Every member of our family has a different color. It has changed our vacations by tenfold!

This is what we do too.

This, but I just reuse plastic shopping and large ziploc bags.

I have packing cubes but I don't unpack. I will hang up anything that needs to it but otherwise I just dress out of the suitcase. I don't like my stuff spread all over it's how you lose things.

Yes! I was waiting to see if anyone else would say this. I never unpack because I don’t ever want to forget something.

I don't get the ick factor. I'm sleeping on their mattresses; if I'm okay with that, putting clothes into wooden drawers is no big deal.

Same. It's a drawer, typically wooden. What do you think is "living" in there? Wipe it out with an antibacterial wipe if you must. I'd be more worried about sitting on the bedspread or using the tv remote.

+1000. Following OP's theory, I would be afraid to sleep in the bed or touch the sink faucets.

We do too. Small clear plastic bags also work.
