Worried: how true is the whole 'it either happens quickly or takes a LONG time' thing?

In my case:

First pregnancy took a year of well timed trying (age 33), ended in early MC
Second pregnancy happened first cycle after MC (age 34), DD is about to turn two!
Third pregnancy happened first cycle of trying (age 35), ended in early MC last week, fingers crossed for trying again

I totally think this is true. Found out four of my friends recently conceived immediately "sooner than we expected" while myself and other friends I know who had interventions spent a good year + with no BFPs.
