It costs a lot to protect him from violent mouth-breathers who cling to guns.

Those grifters will continue to be a huge drain on the American Taxpayer, whether Trump himself is in prison along with some of them or whether he makes it through one term (god forbid) and retires.

Having said that, Trump's presidency should be a wake-up call for budgeting items like presidential travel for leisure (no more golf trips to his private resorts in FL or NJ), secret service protection for family members (how many ex-wives & kids does Trump even have?), and other similar line-items. I didn't begrudge Obama his Hawaiian vacation at Christmas, though the optics weren't great. I had a much harder time with his wife and kids traveling here and there (with an entourage) at the expense of American Taxpayers. There needs to be a cap on that stuff. Once the president and his family exceed that cap, it's on them or they just don't go. It's the price of service, like it or not.

I also had a huge issue w/ GWB's month-long annual vacation at his TX ranch every August, but it probably didn't cost taxpayers a fraction of Trump's weekly golfing trips. It was just the idea of the president taking a month off that bothered me.

And I agree w/ the OP that there needs to be a cap on what taxpayers fund for a former president's office space. I like Obama (a lot, actually) but there should be a cap on what we pay for the guy to have an office post-presidency. This cap should apply to all former presidents.

I want to stress that all this comes back to Trump, though. His level of frivolous taxpayer spending is outrageous. His wife & kid living in NYC for 6 months was outrageous. Trump charging the Secret Service rent at Trump Tower, at his his resorts...even charging for their golf carts is beyond the pale. I know the rednecks don't read the newspaper, but I wish they did so they could see how "their president" is squandering their tax dollars.

So Obama should put his office in Texas? Its not his fault DC costs what it costs.

You could not figure this one out by the last sentence from the the OP "I am sick and tired of Obama."?

Why do I suspect OP was sick and tired of Obama -- and "outraged" -- starting in 2008?

And he was not a racist either, he just didn't agree with his policies.

Ex-President Barack Obama will be the costliest former commander-in-chief, with taxpayers shelling out $1,153,000 for his expenses in 2018, according to the Congressional Research Service.

His budget request is more than $100,000 higher than George W. Bush’s for next year and nearly $200,000 more than Bill Clinton’s expected budget.

George H.W. Bush is slated to get $942,000, while Jimmy Carter will get less than half that, at just $456,000, according to a memo prepared by the service, which was first reported by the Washington Times.

All living former presidents get an office, expenses and, in some cases, an annual pension payment, because of a 1950s-era law enacted after President Harry Truman turned out to be broke after leaving the White House.

The biggest expense for ex-presidents is renting office space.

Obama’s office — 8,198 square feet in Washington — will cost taxpayers $536,000 next year, the most of any ex-president, the paper reported.

Clinton’s Harlem office cost $518,000 and is bigger, at 8,300 square feet. W’s office in Dallas cost $497,000, while his dad’s place in Houston is $286,000. Carter’s Atlanta office costs just $115,000.

Obama’s pension payment is also the fattest, at $236,000, while Clinton comes in second with $231,000. Bush the younger pockets $225,000.

This is making my blood pressure up. I am sick and tired of Obama.

Snowflakes gonna snowflake. Buck up, OP.

Good for him. He deserves every cent. Thanks, Obama. I wish you were still president. You were so good for this country.

+1. Also the most recent and the youngest. It's no surprise that presidents are cheaper when they get old and stop moving around so much, see Carter, Bush Sr.

+2. Seriously. Of all the truly offensive things happening right now, you choose to be outraged over Obama's secret service expenses being 8% higher than W's? Given that W spends his time painting at a rural Texas ranch and doesn't have kids in school, I'm shocked that the difference is this small.

The Mar-Lago expenses make this look like small potatoes. Please put things in perspective and stop looking at everything Obama does as offensive. He didn't make the laws that set the pension and security rules.
