Thanks for the rec, very interested in reading. My mom works in service but she is in one of the few fields (beauty) where you can really hustle your way to quite high wages, but you are working brutal hours to get there, but I am sure a lot applies. I do have a cleaning service, but I intentionally hired one that was just an owner/operator and a couple of her employees, her rates aren't cheap really but I am happy to pay an actual living wage!

But the way our lawmakers are going, family planning and abortion clinics will not be available anymore. They are hard enough to access in some communities as is.

That is just problem #1 to tackle for those born to this circumstance.

Having one child AFTER high school graduation (or vocational school or college) once you have a job and are stably coupled would be ideal. Honestly, delaying childbearing until 30 would be best.

Abstinence only campaigns failed (there were studies), but I wonder if a slick media campaign about how fun it is to be single in the city in your 20s might work? Images of people working in offices, happy hours, international travel, etc.

Honestly, they should hold up Beyoncé and Jay-Z and Kim Kardashian and Kanye. Didn't they delay childbearing until 30? Too bad they didn't marry beforehand, but at least they waited and eventually got married.

Not that it matters but they were long married before kids.

Yes, Blue came along after Bey and Jay had been married for four years and together for 10 years. But why hold up these particular couples as examples? Every last one of them were going to be fine as they came from middle class homes (Jay talks about the projects and a hardknock life and all of that, but his mom was a social worker who was married to his father).

Also, do you think that these are the people folks in Appalachia or in opioid deathland or meth city are paying attention to?
