Getting a grade taken off the transcript

So what, should the grades only count if they do well in the HS level course in middle school? Is that what you all want?

That's literally how it works all over. You take an advanced class in MS and it counts as a HS credit and towards your HS GPA.

Agree! Language classes need to start in ELEMENTARY! Other countries start their language classes earlier than we do.

The easiest way to learn a language is to start young. They should offer MS-level language classes in MS, not force students to take HS-level classes.

You can take a 1st year (Spanish 1A/B and French 1A/B) and 2nd year (Spanish 2A/B only) language class online by semester in the summer and replace the B with an A.

The new regulation changes allows students to take foreign language in middle school - the grades go on their transcript only if they want to. If they do not want it, the grades do not show up on the transcript. Plus they can retake the same classes in high school. I think many students should start taking HS credit classes in middle school now because they have nothing to lose. For some students taking the same course in middle school and high school may make them understand the material better.

nope - This post is my second on this thread. I'm still supporting my response. why? b/c my daughter accidentally received a B in a class - And despite showing her teacher work the teacher missed, the B remained. I told her to leave it alone, to not sweat the small stuff. She doesn't have cancer. She's smart, healthy and kind.

It's a goddamn B.

yes, but this requires re-taking the class, which, particularly in the case of math classes, means the child is off an advanced track even where a B in the MS class means they understand adequately enough to continue to progress. I think what parents would like to see is an option where middle school classes are not reported at all on the HS transcript because kids in MS are too young to really pressure like this. They should be able to learn without the pressure at that age.

OP’s daughter earned a B but it should be scrubbed because it’s messing with her GPA? I could be wrong here, but I’m thinking that’s how it’s supposed to work. Your GPA reflects the grades you’ve earned. Unless I’m missing something...
