Why do people get so hung up on time changes? Some kids completely roll with it, MUCH more than some adults!
I get that some kids have trouble, but in my experience (3 international trips with dd4 and ds1.5) it’s more than fine. I assume some of these comments come from people who have not tried it. |
And to answer your question OP — I would choose somewhere you can fly direct. From dc that includes London, Paris, Rome, Brussels, Vienna, Frankfurt (least it did last i checked). Then stay in center of town in an air bnb. Like others have said, lots of cities in Europe are very kid friendly! |
But you have to admit a 2 year old is getting nothing more from a park in Paris then A park in NYC! Great if your kid is not routine sensitive but they will have no memory of the trip so the destination does not matter. |
She's 2 1/2! She'll be happy anywhere Seriously, my 6 year old is happy at any beach, amusement park, water park! I mean come on, she's a toddler. This is the thing about world travels for little ones - you can take them anywhere. They won't remember anything. My parents would tell me how they gave me all this culture by taking me everywhere for vacations from age 5-14 and staying at 5 star hotels. The thing is, I'm sure (glad) I enjoyed it and all but I don't remember about 90% of any of these trips. It wasn't until I was in my teens did I really appreciate and if I'm being honest, not until my 20s that I could go anywhere I want and set up my own trips did I really love to soak up different experiences/culture. My parents to this day (I'm 45) tell me part of why I'm so successful is because I was introduced to all these cultural, beautiful, new, etc experiences - I just roll my eyes. I think they really enjoyed where we went and I'm glad I went with them but honestly when you're a kid - as long as you get to do kid things, you're gonna be happy anywhere. So relax - take them wherever you end up and enjoy being with them!!

Totally agree that kids don’t need to go overseas to have a great time. But I assumed that OP also wants to travel and is looking for a destination the little one would enjoy too. I vote for Italy. They LOVE kids there. |
Exactly. A two year old is just as happy taking a weekend trip to Hershey Park and/or Ocean City as they are going to Europe. |
Good for you. My kid loses her ever loving mind for a week every time we switch to/from daylight savings. So our trip would be over before she recovered from the time change, just in time to fly home. No thanks! |

If you go to a city, use a stroller. That way she can sleep and relax and not have to walk the crazy amount that you’ll want to walk.
My vote is for Rome. It’s kid friendly, great parks, and has pizza and ice cream on every corner. Plus, with jet lag she will want to stay up late and it won’t be weird to show up for dinner at 10. |
