It wasn't until I was in my teens did I really appreciate and if I'm being honest, not until my 20s that I could go anywhere I want and set up my own trips did I really love to soak up different experiences/culture.  My parents to this day (I'm 45) tell me part of why I'm so successful is because I was introduced to all these cultural, beautiful, new, etc experiences - I just roll my eyes.  I think they really enjoyed where we went and I'm glad I went with them but honestly when you're a kid - as long as you get to do kid things, you're gonna be happy anywhere.  So relax - take them wherever you end up and enjoy being with them!!  :)
