David Grosso Has No Business Being Chair of the Education Committee

Grosso is rude to constituents.

Robert White was on Kojo last Friday and did a good job.
He is clearly a smart hardworking guy. Much more impressive than Grosso. Kojo and Sherwood are so high on themselves. Very annoying as they are really not that good.

Would it help if a bunch of us wrote to Mendelson saying he should consider swapping out Grosso - get him on some social justice committee and off the Education committee and
give Robert White the Education committee?

There is a fine line between a legitimate whistle blower and a disgruntled employee. And maybe the complaints could have been clear -- but the fact remains that no one wanted to hear what they were saying.

I blame the chancellor the least -- this happened after he was on the job for a month or so. He was trying to figure out who to trust and navigate a new city. But no such excuse for the council or DME IMO.

However, they had filed legitimate grievances already so they should have taken the time to read the accompanying documentation to support their grievance. Before you can legitimately file, you are asked for evidence, documents, etc. So this was not just complaining or disgruntled teachers ...

Why do you think it would work this way? Mendelsohn is running for re-election. He isn’t going to waste his time starting a fight with his colleagues. And this isn’t like a job where you hire the best qualified. By seniority each member picks what thy want as a co
mugged assignment.

You need to defeat Grosso in 2020 if you want the committee to change. Also why do you even think White would want it?

Cheh has no interest. If she had interest, she would already chair the committee. She is doing what she wants to do.

The criticism of Grosso's focus on suspensions is legitimate. But, suggesting the DCPS was burning down around him is simply not accurate. There was an issue of absences. I assume you think that kids should be in school and not absent, correct? That's what Grosso thinks too which is why he is worried about the overuse of suspensions. It is not a very consistent message to insist that kids need to be in class while simultaneously suspending them left and right.

Charles Allen is not a good guy if he's representing your Ward. Sorry but it's the truth. His focus is on his own career.

Larger point too many people on DC council are more interested in championing liberal national issues instead of actually governing a city. Two completely different things, too bad voters in DC don't know the difference

Cheh could GAF beyond Ward 3 schools. She could barely find them on a map to boot but she'll go to bat for her HHI constituents who bitch about their Deal feeders on any given issue no matter what the cost to the greater system. She'd be the absolute WORST for EC
