At Eastern I think fewer than ten students from the magnet graduating class of 2016 received straight As in every marking period. |
I wonder how many of those 40 in TPMS were magnet? I have heard that sometimes magnet students underestimate Spanish 3 / French 3, and then suffer. |
Many were magnet. And yes, Spanish 3 was pretty brutal. |
|
Sidetracking a bit, but can anyone who went through Spanish 3 at Takoma give me insight into Spanish 4 at Blair. More challenging? The same?
Thanks. |
| Reviving the old thread form the last year, could be useful for c urrent parents. |
| First off, Magnet R&E is kind of like Woodshop on steroids. 2nd, someone asked if Takoma’s math different than the rest of the county. It is Vastly different, and yes, the kids coming from regular middle have a harder time initially, but then most do fine |
Workload and grading are much harder at Eastern than at TPMS. |
This. I remember this was mentioned when my child graduated from Eastern. |
Yes, absolutely. But if your kid has any kind of procastination/executive functioning deficits, those will show up in spades in 9th grade. 2-3 hours is not uncommon in 9th grade. It's different from MS - there are different social pressures, different sports pressures, and more homework with more classes. |
| Anyone’s DC at Blair come from TPMS magnet and not doing SMCS/Cap? Did they find their place ok? Find challenging courses? DC is very disappointed not being accepted and hoping things will be ok. Thanks in advance. |
How can a TPMS magnet go to Blair to do non SMCS/CAP unless Blair also happens to be home school ? |
If you are asking about the magnet program ( I assume so, since we don't see many people asking about "Kennedy 9th grade schedule", "Churchill 9th grade schedule" etc.), please be specific about the program you want to know. Blair != Blair magnet |
Apparently that must be the case. |
|
inbound TPMS magnet ?
|
| Yes, Blair is our home school |
