Potomac Schools new 70 million dollar gym

70 million, oddly enough, is less than it sounds when it comes to big academic buildings in this region -- construction is really expensive in our area. I'm sure it will have all the bells and whistles, though. The ex-football coach head of school has been pushing Potomac to be more of a jock school ever since he arrived.

Wrong choice of words PP. I think he is looking for a more balanced school. He came from the Delbarton School in New Jersey which is more prestigious school than Potomac.

It is far more than just an athletic center. It is also a student center, a meeting space large enough for the entire k-12 school + ( 1100 students), etc. The gyms and athletic centers are just part of it.

Oh no, he's made it school he wants a jock school. And I don't know about relative reputations -- I'd see Potomac as more academic, actually -- but Delbarton is definitely seen as a jock school.

Plus, because it is a Wellness Center, students and faculty will be able to get an array of traditional and non-Western medical treatments. (Wellness Center -- bwahaha -- see "Tin Cup")

You'll be fine. For every Ted Leonsis - whom I have come across in work, charity events and their lovely children - there are families like you.

I am grateful for the donors - heavy hitters in tech, A&D, investment mgmt. Wouldn't blink to invite them over to my tiny colonial (except they are very busy working, running companies).

Great school, work hard culture, open minded, sweet kids. I guess in contrast to some of the DC super liberal schools with a preference for the community activist and academic elite, here you just might get a dose of capitalism and entrepreneurialism. (GASP!)
