It’s freaking gorgeous here! What are you talking about?

When people fly for a week during winter they are not heading to Del Norte Redwoods, they are heading into the cesspool of metro California which can't be called gorgeous by any stretch of the imagination. California has amazing and beautiful nature but not what you can see during a week in winter, except, maybe, a walk along the beach in San Diego or Santa Barbara county.

I'm not PP, but I live in California and overall it is stunning. There are various areas that are poor and suffer from blight, but--by and large--California has the most natural beauty of any state in the continental US. And it's not just at the beaches in SD or SB, but it's all along our coast, and our hillsides and mountains that cover much of CA, our deserts, forests, farmland. I still advocate going to Greece, but it's no slight to CA. I just think it's special to travel internationally.

I live in California too, it's not a week type destination if you want a good impression and see what you are describing. I just had a funny conversation with a Scandinavian tourist who was asking how to walk to the beach and asking why the surroundings are so bad (she was a mile away from the beach), as she could not believe it that it's possible. You can make the vacation nice and sterile if you plan right though.

California. I love of hotels in Greece are closed during winter. I would save Greece for summer time.
