Are we moving towards communism?

I disagree with our having elections now. This past one finally convinced me of that. We need a system where common people don't elect our ruler. Because there are just too many stupid people voting, as evidenced by this election. HRC should've gotten 450+ electoral votes. But when you let literally any dumbass with a pulse vote, along with millions of fraudulent votes and hacked voting machines, you get what we have now. Elections just don't work anymore. We should've just done a revolution or whatever and kept Obama in office until he picked a successor. We'd have stability and it would be better than this mess we have now. Look at all the money wasted in politics that could go to other things like healthcare

I agree about the amount of stupid voters. Trump is honestly a complete piece of sh*t. All his supporters are too. You are honestly less intelligent if you support this president.

Hillary is the most corrupted politician this country has ever had. She needs to go away or go to prison.

This discussion is way off the rails. The original story was about jailing people for expression. That is authoritarian and has nothing to do with the economics of the country.

But, sadly, most are incapable of making these distinctions.

I benfit greatly and I’m not near the top. We have an excellent standard of living here. The big thing is upward mobility here. You want to work hard you’ll succeed

Have you seen the numbers on upward mobility lately?

Yeah, under Obama it wicked. Now we’ll see growth

LOL! No. Upward mobility began to die when Republicans started pushing "trickle down economics." 40 years later we know that nothing ever trickles down and that it always was a scam to benefit the richest right from the get go. And that one thing alone has contributed more to the economic stagnation of the masses and wealth disparity in the US than anything else in the last several decades.

Hilary is.not.the.president. Trump is. Repeat that to yourself and all of your Trump supporter friends over and over and over.

Start treating people they way you wish to be treated. Golden rule and all. Don't blame terrorism on Muslims (or whomever) blame terrorism on terror. Stop saying that gun violence is a crime problem or a mental illness problem. Gun violence is because there are too many guns. Stop blaming poor people for poverty or people who can't afford health insurance for getting sick. Go back to what you learned in kindergarten. If that's communism I'm all for it.

I don't wish to be treated in the same way as someone who states that terrorism should be blamed on terror.

Elections should be outlawed.

We wouldn't have the mess we have now. Or a disgustingly unfair distribution of wealth. Or poverty. Or 59,000,000 people without medical insurance or able to get medical care. Or people destroying the planet in the pursuit of unnecessary excesses. And we could get rid of this absurd political and electoral circus we engage in that is just a giant money-hole. Replace it with a consistent, stable one party system where leadership is determined on the basis of who is most qualified rather than who raises the most money or buys the most votes. We'd all be better off if we had a socialist system.

Only people who benefit in a socialist system are the top. The idiots that advocate for it are usually rich whites people who have no clue and are weak and simple minded. The other are groups of people who love Che despite the fact he was a racist homophobe

You are confused. Take a look at Northern Europe. That is what the young people are thinking when they long for a social democratic government.

No way. Communism would be way too expensive and would cut into the defense budget.

Maybe a country wouldn't need to spend so much money, blood and tears "defending" itself if it cut back on some of the global profit-chasing and resource exploitation that is a result of capitalism.

Not me. I want Soviet-style. Where dissenters and trouble makers were sent eastward and never troubled anyone again. Imagine what a country we could have if we could send all the trumptards to our own equivalent of Siberia, and we would finally be free of them
