Are we moving towards communism?

We'd be a lot better off if we *were* a socialist system (communism has too many negative connotations to stupid people who don't understand it, therefore it's a term that should be quietly retired).

We wouldn't have the mess we have now. Or a disgustingly unfair distribution of wealth. Or poverty. Or 59,000,000 people without medical insurance or able to get medical care. Or people destroying the planet in the pursuit of unnecessary excesses. And we could get rid of this absurd political and electoral circus we engage in that is just a giant money-hole. Replace it with a consistent, stable one party system where leadership is determined on the basis of who is most qualified rather than who raises the most money or buys the most votes. We'd all be better off if we had a socialist system.

We may end up socialist but not likely communist.

What’s the matter OP? You a Russian troll trying to degrade patriotism and make us hate our flag?

Or are you just Eurotrash that would be here if America hadn’t stepped into Germany 65-70 years ago?

Only people who benefit in a socialist system are the top. The idiots that advocate for it are usually rich whites people who have no clue and are weak and simple minded. The other are groups of people who love Che despite the fact he was a racist homophobe

Everyone was a homophobe in the 1950s and 1960's. Homosexuality was listed as a mental illness in the Physicians Diagnostic Manual until 1977.

It sounds like you just described our current system. Only the top benefitting.

This discussion is way off the rails. The original story was about jailing people for expression. That is authoritarian and has nothing to do with the economics of the country.

But, sadly, most are incapable of making these distinctions.

Nice mental gymnastics bro..but that’s not the case. He was also a racist.

I benfit greatly and I’m not near the top. We have an excellent standard of living here. The big thing is upward mobility here. You want to work hard you’ll succeed

Oh, indeed. Indeed. The new tax plan ensures student loan debt will follow students forever, millennials can't buy homes because of crushing debt, we are dismantling public education, I mean sh*t, so much winning.

1) Che was/is a hero to millions, including me. Your pathetic attempts to disparage him with lies are very obvious to anyone.

2) if we did have a true socialist system, I'd likely be very involved with the government. Probably a central committee member at least. Because I actually believe in the system. Unlike you, obviously, since you probably don't even believe in democracy just pure, predatory capitalism.

We need to be like Denmark. The have socialized medicine, college is free, and maternity leave is generous. Instead it's unbridled capitalism coupled with "rugged individualism". We f*ck ourselves so hard. Australia is nice too. I mean no of it matters anymore. We are no longer a model for the rest of the world under trump.

I was on one of my job sites today and 16 Hispanic immigrants were working today and will work tomorrow. They are the upwardly mobil. They didn't incur student loan debt because they have useful skills in demand. Most own houses or are to buy houses they can renovate themselves Their kids do very well in public schools. Theu are not whining but winning.

I disagree with our having elections now. This past one finally convinced me of that. We need a system where common people don't elect our ruler. Because there are just too many stupid people voting, as evidenced by this election. HRC should've gotten 450+ electoral votes. But when you let literally any dumbass with a pulse vote, along with millions of fraudulent votes and hacked voting machines, you get what we have now. Elections just don't work anymore. We should've just done a revolution or whatever and kept Obama in office until he picked a successor. We'd have stability and it would be better than this mess we have now. Look at all the money wasted in politics that could go to other things like healthcare
