Ellen DeGeneres and her sexist tweet?

Anonymous
It's not sexist or hypocritical. It's an inside joke between two people who have been friends for a long time. I get that tensions are running high right now, but good grief, calm down.

And how do you know this? It doesn't look like Katy Perry re-tweeted it or commented about it. Imagine if Steve Harvey were in the picture instead of Ellen. How would you feel about it then? There is zero difference. Ellen should have sent Katy Perry a private message if it's an inside joke they both think is so funny (which I highly doubt).

Ellen should apologize for her tweet when we ask black people to apologize for using the 'n' word.

In this context she is equivalent to a man because of her sexual preference.

Creepy lesbian boomer gawking at her female guests. It was gross as hell when Letterman did it, it's gross as hell when she does it.

Exactly. Ellen is a shit. Period.

I think they're good friends IRL and it was a private joke between them.

Probably not the best idea to post publicly though/.

I agree with the second poster who said it is tone deaf. I'm disappointed, because I looooove Ellen, but realize that it can happen. Hopefully she realizes that some people found it in poor taste and she apologizes, etc., if she hasn't already.

I doubt they're friends at all.

This is the defining factor. Is sexual harassment not a thing when it's heterosexual towards homosexual or vice versa?

It is a line from her song Birthday, about getting naked to celebrate the other person's birthday. That she put it in a song doesn't make it okay for someone to use it to make unwelcome sexual comments to her (although I stand by my previous posts that we don't know this was unwelcome, context matters).

Uggggggggggh, the overthinking PC police are out in full force!

Holy crap, it's a line from her own song "Birthday". I hate this world we're living in where everyone has to look for something to be offended over. It trivializes real injustices, like what Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby did. The concept of "micro aggressions" - particularly if they are not against you - has to die.

It's amazing what a bunch of rich white women can get all indignant about.

That would be Ellen: A rich white woman.

Couldn't agree more.
