Because they are Muslim names, and while Muslims are a significant minority in India, there are tensions among Muslims and Hindus. Families are most likely to give names that don't mistakenly identify them as belonging to a different religion. |

You sound like a 13yr old slinging insults. Go laugh at yourself in the mirror, hysterical and original. Normally people on DCUMs can be nasty, but at LEAST they are witty and clever, you need to work on your insults, they are not up to DCUMs high standards. |
I'm American but have had many Indian friends and I have to second the poster who said to stay away from Vijay. I have known a couple Vijays that endured a lot of teasing because of the vagina connotation--and these are guys in their 30s. Sorry, but true. Also, we have a family friend named Anil that stayed with us for a summer and I had a tough time introducing him to people without confusion with the American name Neil/Neal, even though I think it's a great name. |
Ahhh--me, too! Same. |
Nikesh |
Sorry but my intent was not to keep up with the level here but to make the offender poster realize how ridiculous it is to make fun of someone's culture. If you think that keeping up with a website level of insulting is something that deserves praise and effort you're better review your concepts and values. I'm really sorry for you too. |
Srinivas.. Can call him Srini for short |
