I never understand why so many people seem to believe that criminals can't use cars to get around, just like anybody else. |
Not only that, there is already the J-2 bus serving the route, though it takes 45 minutes compared to 15 minutes on the Purple Line. I doubt that stops determined criminals though. |
Most criminals consider themselves too good to ride the bus, but will ride rail because its more cool. And the ride quality is better.

It's a dog whistle to " more poor people who don't own cars might have access to my community, oh noes" |
|
Well I am cautiously optimistic about this since I have a home that is fairly close to a purple line. When it's finally done we will be able to ride it to Downtown Silver Spring
Downside is that there is likely going to be construction in my neck of the woods for the forseeable future. My husband and I are taking informal that's about when this is actually be up and running probably 6 or 7 years? |

Driverless cars will be mainstream by 2030. I wonder how this will impact light rail projects such as the Purple
line. |
I don't think it will affect them that much. Different demographics. Initially the demographics that will use driverless cars will be more affluent citizens who probably don't use public transportation that much. It will take some time for driverless cars to become bourgeoisie or working class, the two classes that use public transportation the most. |
| Think of driverless cars as quickly being like Uber and Via only cheaper and more available. Not just for the Rich. They will strip riders from mass transit. |
| Driverless cars will still clog the roads. they will just clog them more efficiently during certain times. They will also exacerbate suburban sprawl, which is a shame. We need our agrarian areas. |
Do you also wonder how it will impact road projects? There are a lot more road projects than transit projects. |
How many driverless cars can you fit on East-West Highway during rush hour? |
Exactly. There only so many cars that fit on roads why is why public transport is essential. The rage against the purple line is from Bethesda residents who are freaking out because there’s now a line that connects PG county to Bethesda. They I used every trick of NIMBYism and still didn’t get thier way. Wahhhhhhhhh! |
You will make $$$$$ when you sell! |
I too am near enough to walk to a station but far enough away to not be on top of it for noise, traffic problems. I think it will have a very nice impact on my property value. |
Maybe, but enjoy the construction noise and dust in the meantime. I don't live very near the trail either but I can hear the construction now. It still hasn't knocked off for the night. They're busy ripping all the trees down. Hogan is an autocrat and anti-environmental governor. |
