Ask about the time a kid fell off the roof. |
Honestly as a medical person I can tell you that in an emergency requiring paramedics, a school nurse isn't going to be of much more help than a teacher or adult trained in first aid. There is a strange poster here who loves to comment on how "unsafe" and "dangerous" and "Lord of the Flies" The Heights is. If you want your boy to be coddled, which is fine, some families do and some don't, no judging here, then it's not the right place for you. |
What happened when the kid fell off the roof?? |
No nurse but the faculty and coaches are all cpr trained. Anyone can call 911 or a parent for a sick kid. |
I'd be less concerned about them not having a nurse, and more concerned about why a child was on the roof..?? |
Or administer an Epi-pen or hand out medication. |
Fwiw, I know several families who left the Heights in recent years due to concerns about academic rigor. |
The problem is not having a nurse to make a judgement If an illness or injury is actually a big deal. Sometimes what seems as no big deal is a big deal. Just not responsible. |
Nurses aren't trained to make that kind of judgement call. I think you all are overestimating nurses' abilities. I have worked with a lot of nurses. They have rudimentary medical training and then just kind of make things up as they go along. You should have heard the one who told me to stop drinking seltzer because the CO2 was bad for my bones. But I'm glad it makes you feel better to have a nurse at your child's school. |
The ones I know were more concerned about the lack of STEM education, but there's something to be said for getting a rigorous education in learning to think rather than learning to code. |
My son goes to a different all boys school and they don't have a nurse. Never thought about it. A deal breaker? Odd.
|
Yea... Being too rigorous. |
Can someone explain falling off roof?? Is this true? |
Fake School |
Are you saying this about RNs in general? If so, it's an extraordinarily ignorant thing to say. |
