I like Madonna. But I don't know how anyone can raise six kids well. I am sure she is a busy lady. It just seems like it would be overwhelming.

They probably think it's better than being an orphan in a poor nation. I'm no fan of hers, but there are parents in the DMV with one kid that the au pairs are raising. You don't see the parents at BTSN, soccer games, or sleepovers because they are chasing the almighty dollar. The nannies are taking kids to dental appointments and tucking them in at night.

I believe one of the kids she "adopted" has parents.

I think it doesn't serve her well to cling so desperately to her sex symbol persona - she's had so much work done on her face to that if I walked by her on the street I might not even recognize her. It's wonderful that she's still vital and creating and performing but I'd like to see her evolve in a different direction, I guess.

But she's never seemed like a relatable, down-to-earth person in the sense that she's always been a bit affected.
She's an icon, for sure.

It's to her credit that most of us were unaware of it. She doesn't use them as PR props, and there haven't been any reported scandals of bad behavior.

There was one scandal with her biological son with Guy Ritchie - well, not a scandal but some kind of custody issue. Apparently her son went to England to be with his dad and wouldn't come back. Not sure how it resolved.

I agree. That was an incredibly stupid statement; by accounts Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner, Sandra Bullock, etc are somewhat or leaning politically liberal or just in general but are strict with their kids. Those two things aren't mutually exclusive.
