Trump is just 12 votes away from impeachment

Make up your mind people: is it impeachment or resignation or removal using the 25th Amendment or death because he eats fast food and is over-weight or ............

If he's impeached, then Baba Vanga was right.

not thrilled by THAT outcome . . .

I am not the one with blinders on. You really don't know what people are concerned about in much of the country and it sure as hell is not the claptrap that some liberals post on this forum. You may not like it but public opinion extends far beyond just the west coast and the north east.

Yes, public opinion is quite different outside the Northeast and West Coast. I, along with 7 of my friends just got out tickets to the Trump rally here in Phoenix next Tuesday. Can't wait to see him pardon Sheriff Joe. Your constant rantings about Nazi support and Russian collusion fall on deaf ears in the majority of the country. Sorry, we do not care.

Then why are his approval ratings mostly in the mid to high 30s, and the Dems showing a 5 to 10 edge in the generic House vote, and a similar swing to Dems in the special elections so far? And why are Republican Congressmen (including both Senators from Arizona) distancing themselves from him?

No, they do care but not about made up crap and outrage that is repeated ad nauseum in the media. What you don't realize is that when there is this endless pile on no matter what Trump does, it reaches a point where Republicans and especially his supporters tune out and as a result even legitimate criticism is dismissed as just another attack.

In a recent NPR poll, 79% of registered Republican voters approve of the job that Trump is doing.
6% of registered Democrats approve of him.

A recent CBS poll shows that 68% of Republicans approve of how he handled Charlottesville.

But here is what liberals seem unable to absorb: Democrats will not vote for Trump or any other Republican. So who cares about their opinion? What matters is the opinion of Republicans when it comes to the elections because they are the ones who will vote to either elect or reelect their representatives in Congress. CA and NY will remain Democratic but hard as it may be to believe the US is made up of a lot more states than those two.

What matters is his approval ratings in the states that he carried in 2016. And according to a recent poll, in 18 of those states his approval was at 50% or higher and in some other states he carried he was in the 40s' but what liberals can't absorb is that in those states even those Republicans who are not enamored of his performance will vote for him before they vote for a Democrat.

Let me remind you that 26 states now have control of BOTH the legislature and the executive with Republicans. Yes, 26 - and the Democrats have just 6, What is more is that 34 states now have Republican governors.

So which party has been in decline? If the numbers had been reversed, Democrats would be crowing about the end of the Republican party.

If Trumps base is as strong as they appear to be, I would expect considerable social unrest despite their relative lower numbers in the event of impeachment. Even without impeacement, if his supporters feel that Trump is being treated wrongly by the GOP, I would expect many more establishment republicans to get primaried, unless there are party shenanigans.

Yes people on the left are angry, but so are people on the right. Trump supporters seem to support him no matter what. If they were more organized, they would show up at town halls to show their support for his policies, wheras Trump opponents have let their voices be heard.

Social unrest seems ever more likely. I pray nothing bad happens.

What matters is his approval ratings in the states that he carried in 2016.

He carried Arizona, but the Senators there find him toxic. He carried Alaska, and Murkowski defied him. He carried South Carolina, and now both Senators there are defying him. He carried Kentucky and McConnell is at war with him. He carried Alabama, and his endorsed candidate lost the primary.

I trust actual GOP pols to know what is going on more than "one recent poll"

is that in those states even those Republicans who are not enamored of his performance will vote for him before they vote for a Democrat.

Or they will just stay home on election day. While Dem turnout soars.

What is more is that 34 states now have Republican governors.

Quite a few of whom opposed Trumpcare. Larry Hogan went against Trump on the statues. Local repubs can distance themselves from the national party, as local Dems used to do.

So which party has been in decline? If the numbers had been reversed, Democrats would be crowing about the end of the Republican party.

You are having a miserable 8 months, so it makes sense to try to change the subject to the previous 6 years.

The polls show major declines in "strongly approve"

If they were more organized, they would show up at town halls to show their support for his policies, wheras Trump opponents have let their voices be heard.

The Tea Party has been very well organized the last few years. They didnt show up at town halls because they didnt actually like the GOP healthcare proposals, when they even knew what they were (not a knock on them, the Congressional leaders kept everything hidden)

Social unrest seems ever more likely.

dont count on it

I pray nothing bad happens

always a good idea

Spin away! But the reality is that Democrats reached their recent zenith in 2008 and have been going downhill ever since.

Just because senators are critical of Trump on one issue or the other it does not mean that they are going to seek his impeachment. A revelation for you: politicians - whether Democrat or Republican - care first about their reelection and not offending the base of their party. They will support Trump as long as his he keeps the loyalty of his own base.

Democrats are just out of touch with much of America and liberals in the north east and west coast are clueless about what the rest of America thinks. Liberals accuse Trump supporters of ignorance and insularity. Frankly, there are few who are as insular as the liberals on forums such as this - they don't get out and talk to people who don't espouse their political views and pride themselves in actually not associating with them.

One of my residences is in a swing state and my neighbor is a Hispanic who proudly drives around with a Trump/Pence sticker. He is a retired NY city cop - a nice guy with a great family. But his politics are at variance with mine - does not mean that either of us refuses to associate with the other. No, that is a trait that one finds among liberals in some blue states. Just imagine a Hispanic who supports Trump - to liberals that is a cardinal sin .......

BTW, those two senators from AZ - one is McCain - who when he was running for reelection had a commercial running showing him on the border saying "Build that dang fence"

He did an about face after he won reelection.

Yep, really principled guy!

Well, there have been five special elections since his election. His side is 5-0.

You're pretty wrong....
