lasagna for 25 people after kid's baptism

There are a bunch of pretentious jerks on this forum, as usual!

I'm Italian American too and this has been my experience. And everything is delicious! Who cares what these people think? If DCers had some modicum of taste in food, there would be better places to eat here.

I'm the poster who suggested it might be a bad idea. I don't think it's tacky at all and can't imagine how anyone could find lasagna, "tacky". I just think it might be difficult to keep warm and to serve/eat.

We went to a baptism in May with lasagna and it was very nice. There were tables to sit down. OP, these people complaining have probably never even been to a baptism.

It's your family and they love you. Serve what you want and ignore the haters.

Baptism meal for us will be tamales, enchiladas, rice and beans. A small salad, chips, salsa and gaucamole. I had forgotten we needed to plan until this thread!

Its still tacky. Doesn't matter how you slice or dice it. Wild Whites of West Virginia strike again.

Please shut up. Go hold your own event and serve pate and caviar you pretentious a$$.

That would be pretty impractical.

Where is "here"? And of course you serve it. You are typical American who has bastardized and debased a lovely cuisine. The "Italian" food you mention food is as Italian as General Tsao is Chinese. American heavy slop.

Nothing in that statement is untrue. Americans are not fat by chance.

Wow, there are a lot of angry people on here. Maybe you are all just hungry after just eating chia seeds and kale all day. Why don't you skeletors go stuff your faces with some delicious bastardized American lasagna.

Balducci's in Alexandria is a good caterer (never had problems) and they do lasagna, etc. Prices are slightly higher, though.

Whole Foods Alexandria is cheaper but still nice/tasty and they have lasagna as a catering option (order early, pick up) along w/chicken parm, etc.

Yikes. I wish you peace, PP, from whatever is causing you to be so angry.

+1. Actual upper-class people don't go around talking about whether various food items are "classy" or not.

+2 Some of the wealthiest blue bloods I've known were big fans of Campbell chix soup rice casserole.

Italian-American food, when done properly, is quite good. A good red sauce is hard to come by, I agree, but it doesn't have to be slop.

Not everything has to be micro-regional Tuscan cuisine.
