Dont worry , looks like every year most of the kids get below 80 and they finally end up with A-/A. Its nothing with the kids competency as the first test has lots of free responses where they might not get the terminologies/words/jargons right even though they know the concepts. All the kids will make up as the quizzes go by.

So with three days left in the class, have people found that grades have terended upward? dC definately has. But will still probably end with a B/B+. No sure if summer school was the right way to go.

DC's grade slightly dropped. But there will be a 10 pts (out of 200 or so) bonus test next week.

do you think the grading has been tough. or just so much information to process so quickly?

Probably both. Not a STEM parent. So it's hard to get a handle on how hard the material/grading is. But certainly lower math grades than we are used to seeing. But also a very fast class. By the time DC figured out how to study to do better, the class was more than half over. Not sure if getting a jump on math was worth starting TJ with what will likely be a B.

My son is enjoying it a lot. Likes the teacher. Enjoys the material. He got a B- on the first test but now has an A. Took him a little to figure out what they wanted, etc....

My son is doing well too with a A (93.5 avg). Heard that there will be a built in curve in the FINAL grade? What does this mean? My son also mentioned that there will be a 10 point bonus test.
Anonymous
My sn said final is tomorrow....no curve. bonus quiz is on Wednesday.

will the kids know there grades right away on Wed?

Don't think so....so happy my son took the class. Gives him an idea of what to expect when he starts there in September.

I'm the PP whose DS got 65 on the first test. He got B+ for final grade. Not something we are used to but we are good with it. Definitely a wake up call and have a better idea what to expect in the Fall. Thanks to everyone who responded to my post.

I heard tons of people got an A.
