I'm the second quoted PP. That's awesome! I'm about the same age and remember all the hubbub surrounding Annie (and Andrea McArdle). SJP goes by Sarah Jessica, which seemed odd to me at first but I've heard it enough in interviews now that it doesn't seem odd. I think she always went by that. |
Eh. That hardly sounds harrowing. "We moved to NY and our apt. wasn't ready so we spent the night at a Holiday Inn and found a rental." |
I'm calling photoshop shenanigans on the hand. |
I am sure the smoking doesn't help, but part of it is the same problem I have. If you are naturally underweight, when you hit middle age, your face and hands look old because you don't have enough body fat. |
Do your own Google search then. 8 kids, one unsteady income, state aid and welfare, no electricity, free lunch, maybe not harrowing, but not exactly living the high life. Parker was born in Nelsonville, Ohio, the youngest of four children. Her parents divorced when she was young, and her mother remarried an often-out-of-work truck driver. They had four more children. Raising eight children on one income was extremely difficult, and the Parkers eventually turned to state aid and welfare. Parker has used the term “Dickensian” to describe her early childhood in Ohio. They often went without electricity, and they didn’t always celebrate birthdays or Christmas. Elementary school was rough on Parker. She wore hand-me-down clothes or clothes purchased from the thrift store. Parker remembers that her teacher would call out the names of the “free lunch” children, and they would have to line up at the front of the classroom before lunch. “It was a stigma thing. I was not the only person receiving a free lunch, but you are aware you are different,” Parker stated. https://esme.com/hall-of-fame/solo-mom-in-the-spotlight/sarah-jessica-parker-a-true-life-cinderella |
| Love SJP!! |
Me too! Why the hate? |
if they were so broke, why did they keep having kids? poor and dumb |
we don't hate her. Her hands look like she works in the dirt. That's all. |
|
She is a butterface. Don't get me wrong she was adorable as Annie and in Square Pegs and even in that cheesy after school special with as the horseback riding girl and the "ghost" boyfriend.
She wasn't poor. Ashley Judd's mom tried to play the same schtick at least Ashley recognizes what the truth is. SJP had professional level dancing and vocal lessons. How do you guys not get this? Her parents might've been unconventional but they were definitely scamming government services if they were really on welfare. She's sticking to a family narrative that was hammered into her head for so long that she thinks it's true. |
And how did they afford theatre and dance etc.? |

Clip about the life after tomorrow:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v= "Relative" poverty; her mother and stepfather didn't have to have high paying or a job at all--the kids were the gravy train: https://www.biography.com/people/sarah-jessica-parker-9542042 SJP had a stage mom--she debuted on Broadway at 11 in a Pinter play; her brother was in Rent. It's been a long time since anyone's bee discovered in Woolworth. Professional children's school tuition plus the American ballet theater and 3 other siblings in musicals. They weren't all on scholarships. SJP should have her wages garnished for repeating the "we we're poor" BS. |

SJP that pretty much everything is on the internet now. A playbill article about how pretty much her whole family was working for the theater:
http://www.playbill.com/article/broadway-theatre-as-a-family-affair-com-100733 While in graduate school, her mother took her and her brother Toby to the theater (in Cincinnati) b/c it was "cheaper" than a babysitter. Okay, who was paying for the mom's graduate degree? Also they obviously didn't need babysitters--there's an 18 year age spread among the kids--some poor, less talented Parker sibling was the real Cinderella. |
Her mother cleaned the studios in a barter for lessons when they were in Ohio. Once they moved to NY, SJP became the family breadwinner. |
| Always loved her, and want her body! |
