Uh, I'm guessing school.

Pretty sure most schools are out for the summer, but if it was school then fine - if he's a teenager he's well old enough to take the detention or other consequences for an unexpired absence.

Pretty sure most schools in the DC area are still in session?

Why haven't you looked into what causes hm to have difficulty falling asleep?

Why are you still waking a 13 year old up for anything? Stop babying him.

I suspect you would throw a fit and cry.

I believe the whole issue is that the kid won't get up on his own. If he rose early enough to do that, problem solved!

You are my hero.

Well, aren't you just a delicate little flower.

You rock, OP!

Lmao!! My dad used to wake me up on occasion by flipping my mattress. Worse than a water gun but in retrospect hilarious

DS sleeps commando, so I'm not about to go in there in the morning. My solution is a gym whistle outside the door if necessary. Most mornings he gets himself up though. He is 17, so maybe those four years make a difference in maturity.

None of the public schools in the DC area have gotten out yet (at least not DC, FCPS, ACPS, APS, MCPS, PWCPS, LCPS). I have no problem with my teenager getting detention or a tardy. I do have a problem getting him to school if he misses the bus. I've got 2 other kids that have to be dropped off at school (they're pupil placed) and I don't have time to get everyone where they need to be and get myself ready for work if I have to take him to school.

Good for you op! I used a squirt bottle of water a few times when my son was a teenager. I threatened it and nagged daily. I also said "Next time is a bucket of water". He really could not wake up. He was in a basement room so I put a battery operated doorbell in his room and could ring that annoying thing from upstairs. That got us through the highschool years.

My parents had an honest-to-god portable foghorn, stored away somewhere after they worked on a ship in the 70s. It was SO LOUD
