| There's a Miami in Ohio? Who knew? Prepare to hear this from every interviewer and conversation partner for. The. Rest. Of. Your. Life. |

You are stupid OP. Any moron has heard of the school. You must live in a ditch down by the river.
I am from Cincy and as others have said, Miami of OH is a good state school for folks. People here from the east coast do seem to enjoy it. I didn't go there but my niece did who lives in Columbus. Her family is middle class and that is the best school they could afford. She got lots of merit aid, graduated in 3 years in accounting and had an offer from a Big 3.Worked in London last summer. Miami certainly worked for her. My BIL went there in the late 60s. He was a hippie so he didn't care much for the school but has done great in his career, so doesn't knock the school. Yes, Paul Ryan did go there but don't blame that on Ohio. He must have not gotten into U Wisconsin, his in-state school. |
| Wow. Insecure much, pp? |

We're from Ohio. My brother went there, with merit aid, in the marching band, majored in statistics, and got a great job out of college at Deloitte in Chicago. He graduated at the height of the recession in 2008, and still got an awesome job.
It was a great experience for him academically and socially. |
| I view it as the JMU of Ohio. Solid choice for kids who want a big school, social scene, etc. Not my kid's cup of tea but I think he's in the minority, wanting something smaller and less of a party/tailgate scene. |
| Oh yuck pp. Miami of OH doesn't have the rednecks that JMU does. |
It is nothing like JMU. More like UVA socially. |
Curious if you've ever been outside of Ohio? |
Miami is closer to UVA in the sense that it's regarded as the best public institution in Ohio and the most selective. There are another similarities as well and explicit comparisons have been made by professionals. JMU is more like Kent State, Bowling Green or even Ohio University. |
Not trying to start a holy war, but Ohio State is usually ranked higher than Miami of Ohio. I'm sure they are both fine schools. And JMU is not like Kent State or Bowling Green. Maybe GMU (sorry, resident GMU booster. I couldn't help myself ).

Yes, I have lived in DC for 30 years and live in Georgetown. I have always lived in a city and never in a suburb. I'm guessing you live in exhurbia w/ your stupid attitude.

You're exactly what ruins this forum and makes it like any other internet bs. Most of the posters here are genuine and helpful. You're just obstreperous. Hopefully Jeff will agree. Bye. |
Are you a dunce who voted for Trump? Guessing so if you have not heard of a college outside of your sacred hillbilly VA

I went to Ohio State in the late 90s. When I attended, Miami was definitely thought of as a better school. |
I think it depends on what you're talking about. Yes, Ohio State is a great research institution and highly regarded for graduate schools. Miami is fundamentally an undergraduate institution (yes, it has graduate programs, but it's known for being an undergraduate school). It's also the most selective public university in Ohio (or at least it was when I attended). And, yes, JMU is far more comparable to Kent, Bowling Green or OU. GMU would be comparable to Columbus State. |
