My kids are in K, will be in 1st grade in the fall, we are just trying to decide the cluster.

I think you have to get a lot more granular than just high school. Look at the long thread on Ashburton Elementary, which is horribly overcrowded, that's on the front page of this forum right now. That's in the WJ cluster, as is Luxmanor, which is a very small school (like half the size maybe?) compared to Ashburton. You've also got Farmland, Garrett Park, Kensington-Parkwood, Wyngate -- all different neighborhoods and all different schools. I'd focus a lot more on the near-term, since your kids will be in elementary school for six years, than the long-term, since they won't be entering 9th grade for nine years. You have to look at the whole package, not just the high school cluster.

Yes WJ had fewer illegals 15 years ago. For instance, one that was barely 5' tall used to walk by with his finger poking at his jacket like it was a knife. He should have been learning English. Several of the girls had a contest on who could have sex with the most guys - one got pregnant and supposedly did not remember who the Father was. MS13 was supposedly there as well.

Thank you. You made a very good point, from overcrowding perspective the Wootton side looks better, esp at elementary level.

I had similar experiences at Watkins Mill 12 years ago. Too many little illegals with big egos. It was a joke the boys did not care about learning. I had to dress down or I would get hit on too much and they were crude. BTW I am just an average blonde.

Wooten all the way-or Whitman if you can swing it. Those are the only 2 decent high schools eft in the county. You should also think about going to Howard county-the commute may suck, but you will get more bang for your buck with far better school choices.

I also got heckled in school by fellow students who may have been undocumented. Even had my butt grabbed twice. And I was way too skinny back then. This was Sherwood HS.

I sent two kids through Wootton with no issues. The academic pressure is high but both boys were will prepared for college. Frost Middle did have issues with its leadership.

I would steer clear of Churchill-full of snotty entitled kids and the parents are the worst. Whitman is far better-even though wealthy, they seem more down to earth.

Kinda agree in the fact that I know lots of Whitman families and none are snotty. But the 2 families I know from Churchill (both minorities) are also lovely. Also interact with dozens of Wootton families through work, spouse work and sports and most, but not all, are snotty. As an example, An older sibling of a family on sports team (from QO) was going to UMBC next fall and the Wootton parents acted like she was just diagnosed with cancer. It was bizarre.

I guess I can "kinda" believe that. I think it has more to do with expectations than snotty family issue.

Wooton. Not very competitive unlike Whitman.
