One of those is a 17 yo boy.

The local Fox station was at the meeting last night and they reported that there has been no increase in missing girls over the last few years. There is a new Commander who has made it a top priority to draw attention to the missing girls. The mewscaster said when the Commander recently took over there was only one missing teen reported on the MPD page when there were a number of teens missing.

The same Commander is on Fox 5 now.

I guess the concern would be if they are being recruited by gangs or traffickers - because that doesn't tend to end well for them. Or if these kids are just crashing at friends' houses and not telling their parents where they are (probably the case for many). Maybe some are just taking off on their own for some reason.

Maybe the police are trying to see if their is a connection to any of these disappearances (even if the teens wind up returning home, where were they?).

Yes, I agree. The parents need to know that it isn't just a couple of kids running off. There are a fair number of kids disappearing for a while and then returning.

Yes, I agree. The parents need to know that it isn't just a couple of kids running off. There are a fair number of kids disappearing for a while and then returning.

And the community needs to know that these are not all kidnappings.

I also work in criminal justice, and while I'm glad the #missingdcgirls is trending nationally (thank you Hollywood), the missing girls who are "temporarily unknown" are the ones we need to be helping as well. Yes, abductions are rare and most of these girls are not being sold into HT rings, but are still at risk for abuse, drug use and prostration. Why should they be less deserving of our help?
