Has anyone noticed all the biracial child models in most catalogs?

Meaning they are not bi-racial - bi-racial meaning 50% one race -50% another race. They are 25% white - 75% black.

So they are black and white but not biracial? Thought biracial meant you have 2 races as part of your ancestry.

Eh, not really. If we went by that rule, then 90% (that's just a guess) of African Americans would be considered biracial since most can trace at least one Caucasian person in their family tree. When I think biracial, I am assuming one parent is considered one race, the other a different race. So President Obama is biracial, but not his girls. Pre 19th century, there was the 1/8 rule, but that's even more confusing

Similarly, Jon Gosselin would be considered biracial but the 8 children he has with Kate are not. The Obama daughters look African American but the Gosselin children look part White and part Asian.

Tiger Woods is many things but handsome he is not. Black women supposedly get so exorcised when one of the "good" ones leaves the flock. Elin, you're very welcome to those googly eyes and that oddly-shaped head as far as we're concerned.

Somehow I don't think Tiger's looks are what is of interest to the ladies. It's probably something more along the lines of $$$$, athletic ability (ie, pro golfer children) and celebrity status. He also seems like a nice guy. Boring but nice.

I'll give him boring, but not so sure about nice. Something about him has always rubbed me the wrong way.

I have noticed this too and think it is really interesting. This probably does say something about common perceptions about the power of black men... though I'm not sure what. It almost certainly says something about standards of feminine beauty, though. The same deals: premium placed on European features, coupled with a stronger urgency for women to be conventionally attractive than men.

It seems to me that advertising images of whites also do this. Blonde women are usually paired with darker-haired men. You rarely see the opposite. There must be something about dark complexions seeming less feminine and more powerful.
