I disagree. Birth control even did this to me in COLLEGE. I’d lost the weight immediately after stopping. I couldn’t lose weight while on the pill for the life of me. I’m normally 5’4 and 108. Get on the pill and I’ll shoot up to 120. Op Look into a nonhormonal iud |
| Like body hair, breast development, hips widening, etc., cellulite is a secondary sex characteristic in women. Secondary sex characteristics vary from person to person, and birth control can often affect development or physicalities of secondary sex characteristics. While there aren't studies specifically geared toward examining the correlation between birth control and the development of cellulite, there are studies showing correlation between birth control and many, many other secondary sex characteristics. For that reason, I personally would not be surprised if birth control impacted a woman in this way. |
Agree. I'm 48 with very, very little cellulite. I still don't have any on back of my legs---just a tiny bit near butt as I've aged. I've been on the Pill for decades. I am thinking you should do a full thyroid panel. I had spotting around 41 like you non-stop. I had everything checked, TSH thyroid level was normal. I had pelvic ultrasound, etc. They just said it was perimenopause. I was not satisfied and demanded my GP run the full thyroid panel (regular physical just tests for TSH). Low and behold---I was right. I had anti-thyroid antibodies which indicated I have Hashimoto's. Hashimoto's causes all those symptoms--inability to lose weight/weight gain, irregular periods/spotting--even depression, high cholesterol, melasma, lethargy/tiredness. |
| It most definitely causes cellulite in me. I started birth control when I was 16 and I got cellulite like crazy right after. I’ve always had muscular legs from being a gymnast. I am still on birth control at 28 and lift weights daily/cardio. Still have horrible cellulite all over my legs |
