S/O Dad interrupted by kids video. Uninvolved dad or no?

Sweet, perhaps, but as far as being smug, I wouldn't feel comfortable saying that if this weren't an anonymous forum.

Was that his wife? I assumed it was the nanny.

Nope. Many people assumed that because she was Asian. That was his wife.

Get back to us after he's been interrupted on live TV.

I can get back to you now. He's very poised and natural and genuine, and would've done the same in that situation. That's my point. Not that it's a direct comparison, but that he's a loving dad who exhibits more grace under pressure. Some are better than others at that.

There is no way you can say your kids walking in on some totally commonplace conference call is he same thing as them busting in on your serious interview on BBC. It's great you think your husband is the best dad of all time so you can shame this dude, but he was on air for a serious topic. Scooping up kids for a "hey world, my little rascals joined us!" moment would be goofy and inappropriate to the gravity of the situation they were discussing.

I will never get this. I saw that and immediately saw a panicked mom who knew her husband was on air and she had turned her back on the kids for a second. Never once did it occur to me it was the nanny. Did anyone even look at the older kid? She's clearly half Asian.

I also do numerious confernce calls and hundreds of speeches. I can tell you (having done it once) live TV is pretty nerve wracking.

Also, people reacted differently. Putting this man down based on 15 seconds (or as a way to prop your DH) is pretty terrible.

He laughed and smiled and didn't look panicked. I'd say he did just fine under the circumstances!

Am I the only one who thought that he probably didn't have on pants? I've had many conference calls where I'm only dressed from the waste up and as soon as it's over I go back to the couch.

This is the dumbest thread!!!

Plus grandma said he skypes with the kids regularly from there and the daughter thought it was her.

Doesn't sound sound uninvolved to me.

Seriously!! If it were a mom would you have expected her to break and collect the kids? No!!

Of course! I had to work many times from home and my husband (or a babysitter) was responsible for the kids during the skype or phone interviews. First, I would be very upset if he/she let the kids in the room during an interview. Second, yes, he/she would need to get the kids. This is not a time to show any involvement.

And, yes, it would be funny and cute if he stopped the work to play with the children. But maybe he is not even wearing pants! And, if it was a woman, it would be worse because everyone would say she was unprofessional - "how come she can talk about conflicts in North and South Koreas with children playing around?".

She actually took it well and retreated to the bed.
