| You never should have said anything |
| How is it even an issue? You got a gift, it no longer works and you are demanding a new one? WOW, just wow. |
|
If DH did this there may be more to the story than you know OP. Perhaps this isn't the first time his parents have gifted a luxury item that wasn't quite as lux as represented.
I would let it go, but if I felt some compulsion to "get to the bottom of it" (I wouldn't), I would ask DH about his reaction. |
| I can't believe your DH brought it up to them, thats terrible. Everyone should let it go ASAP. |
| They owe you NOTHING. |
This. Get a second opinion on the authenticity of the watch. But ILs don't owe you a replacement. |
This. I'd be mortified if my spouse actually brought it up to them. |
| You wore it for 10 years. Let it go. |
+1000 I would not have brought it to their attention unless they specifically mentioned not seeing you wear it anymore. I'm sure it's made them feel like they wasted an awful lot of money and completely embarrassed that they got ripped off. And no, tell your husband they do not owe you anything. |
| Nothing is uglier than an ungrateful child |
| A luxury watch is automatic - it would not have required batteries, in any event. |

Unprecedented unanimity on DCUM!

| Authentic or not why would they need to replace a gift after 10 years? That's insane. |
Whaaaat? You crazy. Women's automatics are the exception, not the rule. Sheesh. |
