I want a simple wedding the second time around. Creative suggestions?

I just remarried in October. My sisters and the rest of the family lives down south. Dh's sisters were fine traveling down. We found a great restaurant with a beautiful courtyard. I had a small but quick ceremony followed by dinner and cake. It was the best-relaxed, no stress!

Wear whatever you want and have a civil ceremony in a private roomies restaurant. Eat and drink afterwards.

What I also thought was great was just how it was 'their' personal touches, it wasn't about the wedding, but about each other. They talked about their age difference, the kids and her previous marriage. It was honest and true.

There are kids, three total, all elementary age. They get along well. Would love to think of some ways they could participate.

Oh I wish my friend would read this. He is going on his third and his fiance is going on her 2nd and they are about to dump a ton of money into it and have over 150 guest. His 2nd marriage lasted < 1yrs. No clue why he is doing this.

We did this. Each family member in the new blended family added sand to the jar and a shell/rock/item they found on the beach.

We also bought my son ("ringbearer") a fire engine to carry the ring on and bought my SD ("flower girl") a vase she picked out to carry flowers to us. BTW: if she had wanted a truck, we would have bought her one of those. The point is we let the each know what they were bringing to the front of the room and asked them to think about what we could get them that they'd enjoy.
