DO NOT ever induce vomiting without consulting a vet. The offending object has the potential to cause further damage on the way back up...most terrifyingly, it could block the airway. |
You can't flush tampons. Just know that every time you do this you are ruining plumbing in that place. |
not flushable wipes either |
My dog did this all the time. We had systems in place to keep him for getting them but he was a champion diaper and tampon finder. A hound of course. The first time I worried and had his stomach pumped. That's what the vet will tell you to do by the way. $600 later and the next week he did it again and we were all like, whatever. It will be fine. |
SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME. My dog was 28 lbs. Medium sized tampon. When I went to try to catch him, he inhaled it all. I immediately took him to emergency vet, they gave me a shot in the head apparently to induce vomit and he did vomit it out. Vet said it was HUGE, no way a dog can pass it safely. PLEASE GO NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not kidding here, better safe than sorry. Hydrogen peroxide only works if you do it right away. PLUS if it is so big (gets big as it gets wet) the dog can CHOKE. |
So we are 24 hours out. Dog is peeing and pooping normally. |
If it hasn't passed, it still has a huge potential to cause issues. |
I have a dog and this is so disgusting. This is why there is no face licking with me. |
THIS!!!! My dog ate a tampon. I came home found the wrapper. was going to do the peroxide thing and called the vet. They instructed me to bring her in and they induced vomiting a gentler way. If a dog eats anything odd please always call the vet. Their life may depend on it. |
How is your dog, Op? |
Please come back and update us on how your dog is doing! |
OP here.....dog is fine! Lots of energy, normal appetite, going to bathroom as normal. |
Has the tampon come out yet? If not, it's a time bomb |
It should come out soon- keep watching for peeing and pooping! |
