Wowwwww.

She wins! Because she is so not thinking about you right now.

Yea I wring my hands over her not thinking about me. Lol. I'm not worked up about it..are you all illiterate? I think these crazy "you just hate your SIL" responses are a hoot!

But meanwhile, you took the time to write a post about your SIL and disguised it as you thought a Jesus birthday celebration was crazy. Keep spinning OP!

But you took the time to respond without reading the original post clearly. You are the spinner my friend.

NP here, you're protesting too much. You wanted everyone to get onboard about your SIL being a crazy B celebrating the dumbest tradition ever but most of us are familiar with this tradition and it doesn't really rub us the wrong way. You're on your own with this one, just deal.

It's not uncommon OP especially for families with kids to help remind them of the meaning of Christmas and to help them understand the meaning.

There's nothing wrong with it. Why do you feel offended? It's Jesus's birthday. Celebrate with cake and song. Not your thing? Ok, but who are you to be pompous about it?

OK, but it wasn't really his birthday and we don't know that he really existed. So...a birthday cake seems over the top.

Okay, you might not know he really existed, but over 3/4 of Americans, a significant portion of the world's population and over 2000 years of history and tradition say otherwise.

Heck, even Islam recognizes that Jesus really existed.

OP, don't speak of something as fact when you are only speculating.

I'm the OP and I didn't write that. I am a Christian. So don't admonish me for some else's rantings. Thanks.

Not OP, but you don't really know either. You may believe the stories you've been told, but you don't really know. Anyway, cake still seems over the top.

It's the observation of his birthday, so it doesn't seem over the top at all.

Dear Lord, it's just cake. Just a cake! How can one cake on a holiday be over the top?? Does the SIL have little babies playing Jesus pop out of it? Doesn't sound like it. OP and her resentment over something so stupid are over the top.

SIL celebrates the birth of Christ with cake.

You celebrate with...judgment and ridicule.

This.

You're falling way short right now. And not because you don't like your SIL's cake.

Seriously. Maybe those Bible verses you read should be about kindness, generosity, and not judging others. I'm not even Christian and I know you are failing at the whole "spirit of Christmas" thing despite your holier-than-thou attitude.

Being a Christian doesn't mean I have to support my SIL and her holier than thou ways. Sorry.

Luckily we don't do holidays with her anymore so we just know from MIL and SILs sanctimonious facebook posts with the cake and bible verses to show us just how good a Christian housewife she is. I have never heard of this and I think it is rather demeaning to JC to have a birthday cake for him. I think his birth is a solemn and spiritual occasion and we mark it by reading the story of his birth and being thankful and kind.

Yes, nasty judgments are very spiritual and solemn! You are doing great at the whole thankful and kind thing...

It does mean you need to be kind and non-judgemental! God, you are missing it you petty ------.

Really? Cause it's one day later and you can't even be neutral, let alone kind, in your responses to this judgey thread.

I guess its time to pop the popcorn and watch this take on a life of its own. Crazy stuff people...you need jobs.

This is such a harmless tradition. If that's the dessert the cook wants on Christmas, and she's buying a decent cake, I say "whatever".

DCUM has spoken. We'd rather celebrate Christmas with SIL and a piece of cake than with OP and her bitter brew.
