I'm just protective of my brother. She is going to have to get used to it.

Just out of curiosity, are you this protective of your brother with everyone, or only with women he is romantically involved with?

Protective in general. When I said something to her she said first of all stop referring to him as your bubba since we aren't 5 and second people outgrow childhood allergies all the time. Then she told me to shut up and stay out of it. She's a peach.

...I'm still on her side. What happens in their home and marriage is not your business. If you are genuinely concerned about your brother's wellbeing (and not just looking for more ammunition for your SIL-hate), you should speak to him directly.

Yes. She was 100% in the RIGHT. You need to grow up and stay out of it. It serves no purpose to remain emotionally incestuous with your brother....

You sound like a nightmare, OP. Team SIL.

"Your bubba"? What the heck?

My husband has the same allergy. He went golfing once, hit his ball into a pile of pine needles, and ended up in the ER because he was covered in such an awful rash and benedryl was doing nothing.

We had a fake tree the first 10 years of our marriage, but this year I said I really wanted to take DS to pick out a real tree the way I did as a child. He agreed, so long as he didn't have to touch it.

It's been in our house for 3 days now, and he's fine. DS and I brought it home, decorated it, and water it. He admires it from across the room and takes a claritin (which he does daily anyway).

If his sibling tried to imply that I was in the wrong for negotiating this minor thing in our relationship, we'd both roll our eyes and end the conversation. Not sure why the sibling cares at all if the allergic person isn't making a fuss about it.

Are we only having millennials posting today with complete drama queen issues?

I have the similar allergy, clearly it didn't kill me or your brother or they wouldn't have it. Did you know that many childhood allergies are outgrown or much milder as we grow older?

I love your SIL. She has a backbone which it sounds like she needs desperately when you come around. Learn how to respect boundaries. He married her.

I can't believe you're real. If you are real, just admit it, you kinda wanna ---- your brother don't you? I know it's disgusting, but that's the road you seem to want to travel. You need to distance yourself. SERIOUSLY.

We should forever remember this dan on DCUM, when most of pps were on ILs side on different issues!

It really has been one for the record books. The Monday after Thanksgiving and everyone has been very pro-ILs today. You'd think we'd all be out for blood to avenge the terrible holiday behavior we've been subjected to over the last few days but nope!
