They overlooked her glaring deficiencies or made excuses for her. She got the nomination with a stacked deck and the DNC with DWS doing everything possible to sabotage Sanders. Unbelievable stupidity. To make matters worse she was a lousy campaigner.

So every time you look at Trump and wish it had been someone else, make sure that you recognize that we did this to ourselves.

I am sorry but Republicans gave no one to blame for nominating a man who is singularly unfit to hold any elected office, much less serve as Commander-in-Chief. They could have stood up to him at any point but showed that they valued party before country.

Yes, the Republicans nominated a person who is singularly unfit for the presidency but we then presented a nominee who was so flawed that even he could beat her. For that irresponsible action we have only ourselves to blame.

I think it's not "even" is "only".
And flawed she was, but not more than many other politicians that have gotten to the Presidency just fine in the past.

Does anyone know of a place where I can buy some discreet symbol of anti-Trumpism? Like a ring or a bracelet...

+1 re: taxes--I feel guilty about any potential benefit like lowered taxes for my income bracket. Coupled with concerns for my religious and racial minority immigrant family, it's a strange feeling.

You feel guilty about paying less in taxes? Then feel free to pay more to the Treasury, they will happily accept it.

And why do you feel bad about these things? If trump's tax plan is in place I can expand my business and hire 1-3 new staff people. Isn't that a GOOD thing? And what's wrong with failing public schools, bad teachers and bloated school bureaucracies having people vote with their feet and leave? Do you really care more about the bad schools than the kids who are suffering there?

I just don't get all this pesdimism, but I realize that being a liberal democrat requires a measure of guilt and self loathing

Taxes are what pays for our military and government. I am happy to support the troops and pay for other services I get from the government. Oh and to pay for the old people in our society. They technically paid in but it isn't a savings account. The current working people pay for the retirees.

As a product of public schools, I find the myth of bloat to be so annoying. Public school are running on shoestring budgets and have cutback on so many things and just teach to the test. Appalling!

Really? How many administrative employees are there at your city/county/state level? Too many.

I feel sort of like a veil has been lifted and I'm exposed to a lot of hatred and anger that I didn't know existed in my super diverse and inclusive DC bubble (e.g., reading about the hate crimes since the election, when watching a video clip of the alt-right Spencer speech at Maggiano's, reading comments from racist/xenophobic/sexist Trump supporters).

For example, one guy posted a hateful comment on a news article on FB--when I went to his page, I saw a picture of him wearing a t-shirt that said something like "I wish Hillary Clinton had married O.J. Simpson."

Yes, this sort of thing does make me feel a little dirty/ill.

I suggest you read about the fact that many racist acts were hoaxes

Exactly. Even the WashPo writes articles with people claiming horribly racist things were said to them - but with no proof or eyewitness corroboration. Just someone telling an anecdote about something that may or may not have been said to them. By this time, I'm having a hard time believing any of these reports, unless there is some kind of proof, video, multiple witnesses. It's incredible to me that a "respected" news source publishes articles which are pretty much, "He said this to me!" and puts it out there as fact.

One thing driving Trump is the desire to get Federal estate tax eliminated so his business can pass to his children without any tax consequences once he's gone. It's all about issues important to the 1%. Bait and switch for the rural poor who helped put him in office because they thought coal was going to make a comeback under Trump.

Unlike his opponent, he didn't approve executing mentally retarded black men, or the crime bill. He didbn't call black people Super Predators. He opposed the Iraq War. He knew that Isis was not the JV team.

Please examine why that makes you feel bad.

Stop it. Everything you said is a lie.
He assaulted women, he stiffed people working for him, he defrauded Trump U students, he mocked a disabled person, he disrespected a Gold Star family, he invited Russian meddling into our election, and he is lining his pockets with questionable money as we speak. You should feel terrible, and the fact that you don't tells us exactly the kind of person you are. An asshole. Bet you go to church too.

Only to pray for the silly girls like you

Check out Table 6. Individual tax rates go down for all but mostly for the very wealthy. Sure, we could stand to lower the corporate income tax but he's gutting so much revenue to the Treasury that he can't fund any of his initiatives at the same time. Standard Rich Guy Tax Plan. He gets lots more money and those of us in the middle are happy because he gave us a small kickback. Deficits slow economic growth. You just can't increase spending and cut revenue at the same time.

I think Trump is not going to be a good economic leader in the long run for many reasons. Of course, he changes his mind so often it's impossible to say what he'll end up trying to do but he does make me nervous.
