Agree. I am not a germaphobe AT all - I am horrified at anyone sleeping on a hotel room floor! The bed is bad enough! It's obvious why to OP wants to - $. |

We have done 3 kids in hotel room at ages 1, 4, 6. It was pure hell. Baby was right next to us and kept standing up in PNP staring at us. Ended up in king bed with us. Horrible.
I would suggest 2 rooms if you can afford it. We have put babies in the bathroom, but not every hotel has a big enough room for a pack-and-play. We tend to rent houses/condos because 2 hotel rooms is pricey. We have never had anyone give us a hard time for having 5 people in the room. |
|
We do it all the time. If the place has a 4 person limit, I don't count the baby. I don't think she counts towards that limit!
Kids are now 3,7,9 and we are still doing it. We still use a PNP for her. I think next year we will travel with the kids size Areobed if she is out of the PNP. No way am I getting two rooms. We stay at very high end hotels and it's always 700/night or more. |
From what I understand from my friend who has 3 elementary school kids, a lot of hotels won't let you make a reservation for 2 adults+3 kids because they have occupancy rules. You could however make a reservation for 2 adults and 2 kids, and I doubt anyone will complain about an infant. FWIW, my friend still gets one room with her husband and 3 daughters. They don't want to spend the $ on two rooms and she says they find it fun to sleep in one room (at least for a night or two). |
Four kids, now adults--always in one room. DH and I in one bed, girls in another, boy on cot, last girl on sofa. Saved us money back when we were pinching pennies. It made for fun memories...and lots of closeness!

| We only have 2 kids and still refuse to have us all sleep in one room. |
I slept on many hotel floors in my childhood and lived to tell the tale. And we're not talking Marriott-quality hotels either. Her kids will be fine. |
Glad someone is defending this PP! It's really not that serious. And they're in sleeping bags for god sake, they aren't laying on the bare floor of a bus station bathroom or something. |
Maybe because they want to travel and show their kids the world and don't have a ton of money? I'm the PP who slept on hotel floors as a kid (with a sleeping bag). I have great memories of those family trips and am glad my parents didn't choose to limit us to day trips. |
My allergies are flaring up just thinking g about sleeping on a hotel floor - dust mites, dander, pollen, dirt, and that doesn't even include the tons of bacteria looming. |
Childhood motel floor-sleeper here . I can't speak to the allergies because I've luckily never suffered from those. But seriously, what do you think the bacteria are going to do to you? There are bacteria everywhere. Do you sanitize your hands every time you touch a dollar bill?
http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/10/11/upshot/im-a-doctor-if-i-drop-food-on-the-kitchen-floor-i-still-eat-it.html Sorry OP, I know I'm taking your discussion off-topic but I feel compelled to defend the PP who has her kids sleep on the floor. |

There are some very precious people on this thread. Trying to save money on a vacation? How dare you! If your can only afford one room at the Hampton Inn and plan to eat dinner at Cici's every night you are too poor to procreate and should have stopped at one.
Op it's really going to depend on fire codes and where you're going. Just do it above the board and call the hotel first. |
Why? There's no need to tell the hotel. |
| We regularly do one room for a couple nights. We used to haul the PNP with us but now the youngest is 3 we have a kids' bed and a parents' bed. If it were going to be a longer vacation in a hotel we would get a suite....but I prefer a cabin or rental house for longer vacations b.c I get sick of eating in restaurants for 3 meals a day. |
| You had 3 kids. This is what comes with it. 5 airline tickets and 2 hotel rooms. |
