We started when I was 32 and it took 3 years. After the first 2 years we started doing fertility treatments. Ultimately, IVF worked for us.
We had to do IVF but we were only having sex once a week for 2-3 years. Re said we should have gotten pregnant during this time but I'm not convinced we were ever doing it during my fertile period. The man simply refuses to have sex more than once a week.
First cycle for first child, who is now 3.5 months old. I did a lot of planning a reading (Taking Charge of Your Fertility), and everything worked out well with no stress. My friends who 'just let it happen' ended up taking about 9 months to conceive.
First cycle, after temping/tracking my cycle for 3 months. I was 33.
4 months, age 35
Baby #1, 1 month. Baby #2, It's been 2 years and no pregnancies yet, with TTC every month plus infertility treatments. We're going to still TTC every month for the next 5 years, but we're done with infertility treatments. My son is only 2.5 and I had no idea my fertility could go downhill so quickly. My RE gave me a 1% chance of pregnancy at this point.
I am 39 and my partner is 47; happened on a first month trying seriously . We used ovulation app and no other devices; just enjoyable awesome good ole love making every couple of days. I am about 8 weeks now. I think it's different with everyone and there is no perfect formula. All of my GFs gave me one advice--after you do the deed, put a pillow under your pelvis and stay put for at least 30 minutes....lol....don't go to the bathroom right away. Sounds like an old wife's tale, but it totally worked! Good luck to you!

Two years, starting at age 28 and then another two years at age 31. Ultimately did IVF each time.
Unexplained infertility--I ovulate like clockwork every 28 days, my husband has no sperm issues and all testing was normal both times. |

First or second try after I stopped using protection and began timing (had been using condoms prior, no BCP). Age 33, DH age 38. But friends have run the entire spectrum, from getting pg right away to taking months or years. There's just no way to know. If you are anxious I would suggest getting one of the cycle tracking apps (I used WomanLog Pro), which helped me figure out when I was ovulating and also helped me and my OB know when I had conceived (within a 3-5 day window or so of course). Baby was born morning after my due date so it seemed pretty accurate.
Good luck. |
First cycle for preg 1&3, but 7 months for 2.
First period after pill was three months after I stopped. We were waiting for that because my doctor told me its useful to have one to time the pregnancy, but then I never got another. At 6 months after pill my doctor put me on clomid and we conceived first month on clomid. So, depending how you look at it we were waiting 6 months to conceive or we conceived the first month we could. (With second pregnancy it was 14 months.)
30 y/o - 6 months with temping and tracking. First two cycles were a little wacky after getting my IUD out, but still ovulated according to temps. Month 6, when we got pregnant, we used the instead cups, the fertility lube, and I stopped my prescription stimulant medication. Not sure which one made the difference, if any, (though I think it was the cups), but next time I'll do those things from the get go.
