Ah, I think that is going on with me. I was wondering where the copper came from, my hair was ash brown. I have a fair amount of gray, so it makes sense that the copper strands are on their way to gray.

Yep, same. It was the transition to greying hair. First only on my head, now lighter hairs show up in my brow or even lashes. It means gray soon. Haven't noticed a change in eye color. I have/had dark brown hair and eyes, with a hint of red undertones, that were stronger in my mother's coloring.

Wash with a purple shampoo and conditioner once in awhile.

Personally, I hate the reddish color that can happen to brunettes when they start to get greys and the dye fades. I imagine your 'red' is the same shade.

You could also do a nice color gloss.

Yes this. Purple or blue shampoo weekly or every couple weeks. Also a brunette gloss every 6 weeks. This can be done at a salon or with a pigmented conditioner for a similar look. I’ve used this one and it gives nice results though tone only lasts about 2 weeks.

my red hair is going ash blonde. I have been told by the hair dresser that this is 100% normal

+100

I am a medium-deep brunette with blue eyes/olive skin and my hair in my youth would get caramel/blonde highlights naturally in the sun. I absolutely HATE any tone of red in my hair. I also recommend the pigment gloss and purple shampoo/conditioner for any brunette loathing the reddening.

My brown hair is turning red and white with age, and my red headed dh's hair is turning brown with age,.so now we are starting to look like each other in our 50s.

My hair was very dark before kids, then I lost a bunch of hair with each baby and when it grew back it was somewhat lighter. Not finer, just a lighter, more reddish shade!

Are you sure that it’s just age? My dark brown hair gets reddish in the summer from the sun and Swimming in chlorinated pools. Also from being less than careful with hydrogen peroxide that wasn’t supposed to come in contact with my hair…. Several years ago, my hair got lighter and more reddish when I chemically relaxed my hair. So, is there any chance that other factors might be impacting the color?

This. My hair turns copper and then bam, gray!

I hated how my brown hair kept going reddish. I ended up going blonde. My hair looks so much better now and upkeep is easier.

I have been noticing the same thing. I have hints of red and I randomly have a silver strand that pops out occasionally.

I’d take it in a heartbeat. My once blond hair is getting darker and darker

I keep being told I am "losing pigmentation"- I have gone from dark auburn to ash blonde with a strawberry blonde phase in between.

Me, too. I read another post on DCUM that said it was about losing pigment - basically, the copper is a transition on the way to gray

Wow, I'm having the exact same thing happening! Brown / auburn hair with graying temples and now dark red forehead hair!!
