It actually does depend. Unless you are a snob. In my office, we have one from each, both with doctoral degrees from the same institution, and both are very good. |
I heart you. And OP is a dark-hearted ass who thinks he/she will somehow cheat death unlike the rest of us and that the right college really matters in the scheme of the universe. It really, really does not. |
If you live and die by the rankings, then both would be considered above average colleges as there are far more than 150 colleges in the nation. |
Iva is "avg" state u. |
|
Yea, said no one ever. |
You're talking to the wrong people, then. My older DC is not academically gifted just average, and graduated with average grades from an average state school. Has great people skills and is gorgeous so she landed a job in her field that she competed for with a high school friend who went to a top school. The other girl isn't as personable or pretty. My DD got the job because she's the better face and temperament for the public. She's happy. . |
| You are a very, very small person, OP. It must be sad to be you on the inside. |
Some of us also care about our children becoming decent and kind people. I.e. nothing like OP. |
This type of comment partly answers OP's question. On DCUM VT is considered an average college. However in your typical H.S. the average students are not admitted to Tech. So part of it depends on what your definition of average is. |
Thanks! I'm very proud of them
|
Lots of kids choose Tech over UVA for engineering. |
That's my point. OP wondered why people "won't admit to sending their kids to average colleges ever". I nor only admit mine went to what dcum would consider average colleges....I'm super proud of them. My oldest two are serving their country as military officers. My daughter is an ESE teacher who works with profoundly disabled kids. I could not possibly be prouder! |
Actually my nephew faced this dilemma. He knew he "should" go to UVA but really preferred Tech. Ultimately he went out of state. |
No. Average to below. Top twenty: above average. Top ten: excellent. Out of the top fifty: don't even bother. It's not worth the paper it's printed on. |
